Great Work

Just figured I would drop a quick post to you bloggers who are doing such a wonderful job responding and thinking critically. You are making this Blog a wonderful addition to the class. You should all be proud of yourselves. Now the next step...I need some ideas on what else to incorporate into the blog. Bear in mind we can use online content, video, audio, polling etc. We can talk reading, writing, movies, question and answer for class...whatever you want. After seeing how well you have done in MP1 I want to see your input on this blog. Please post any ideas on how to incorporate this blog further...Thanks -H-

I think that we should discuss the difference between books, and their movie. We could compare and contrast them!
If we want, we can also discuss the theme in the movies, and the books!
I. am. good.

I think to improve the blog students should be able to post not only books they've read, but movies they've watched or songs they've heard as well.

The first comment was a great idea!!! Mr. Horvath you should let us think of songs with a deep meaning or theme and then blog about it... Then we could listen to songs while we think of people statements and connect it to books, movies, and other songs!

give us a song or let us find a song and see if there is a theme in the lyrics. Another is you could let us make a song that has a hidden meaning or something and everybody has to try to find the theme.

I agree with mykaera we should he able to post other things like songs they have to be appropriat but i dont want any old songs that KNOWONE enjoys but it would be cool to find the themes of songs.

I agree with Aralea...thats always a coo thing to discuss..some movies completely DESTROY their books! (Eragon, twilight...etc)

I too agree with both Aralea and AF313, we could have class discussions on all this stuff and mabe even watch some of the movies in class then pick them apart, it would be really fun to do.

Well, I'm going to be different and suggest something myself (I'm not surly, just independent). Though, songs are great, really, I love music, I don't find the activity of finding a theme in a song a learning experience. I like the idea of polls, because among other things, they cause conflict, and where there's a conflict, there is a good stimulating conversation. It could be as simple as: Which is a better book The Lightning Thief or Twilight? It would encourage many who have read the books to share their opinion. Polls could be used to compare movies, books to movies, and songs. They are a good thing to use when trying to show every persons' opinion.

Mr.Horvath, I think that we could also try to connect with poems and find the theme to those. I also think that it will be a challenge for us.(depending on the poem). If the poem does not have a theme, we could try to blog about it and try change it around so it does. :)

Yeah i agree with mariana and it would be cool to see everyones different interpretations of the same poem

i think you could have us watch a short little video clip that you get off youtube and post it on here and we find the people statement and do a summary for it. The video clip would be like a short story just it gives us pictures and shows us whats happening.

I TOTALLY agree with Aralea and AF313! It's a great idea to discuss books and their movies. It's also an idea that would probably bring up lots of different opinions. For example, I agree with AF313, LOADS of movies ruin their books, and some happen to be fantastic books. My example is the movie "My Sister's Keeper". The book rocked and the movie wasn't so great. Who knows though, maybe some people like the movies others don't think go well with the books.

p.s. I LOVE Mariana's idea!

I agree with everyone! finding themes in poems sounds cool, and finding the meaning in a song is always fun and educating.

I think we should compare books to their movies

I think we should have a book poll of the week. We choose from 4 books and see which one is the most popular we the pick out the winners and have a final round. By the end of the year, we can have the years best book!
