Jumpman
student submitted - In the book Jumpman, the character Jules is getting really jealous of a kid who "jumped" back to Jules's time from some point in the future. This kid is spending a lot of time with a girl that Jules likes. Unfortunately, the future kid's jump pack is broken so it's not likely that he is leaving any time soon. How can Jules stop the girl that he likes from getting sucked in by this kid from the future?

First of all.... is Jules doing anything to show this girl he likes just how much he likes her? If he isn't willing to face his problem then obviously he doesn't care very much. What Jules needs to do is give the new kid some compitition. He needs to prove to that girl that the guy for her has been here all along. He might not have been brave enought o do it in the first place but if he really liked her he would build up the courage to do what makes him happy.
i think if Jules really liked this girl he would tell her so this is kind of his fault but also i wouldn't worry about this guy because the girl will eventuallly get disinterested in him! I can tell form past expirences that love doesn't last when your a teenager!
I agree with what Julia said. If Jules liked this girl enough then he would do anything he could to keep her with him. Jules cant just sit back and wait until the girl comes to him, he needs to get the courage to make this girl relize that hes the one for her! Also, he should tell this kid from the future that its not fair to the girl for him to get her to like him because one day he is going to have to go back to where he belongs in the future.
I also agree with Julia. If he really likes her that much and doesn't want anyone to get in the way, he should really tell/show her how he really feels. I also agree with KENDALL(: because it really isn't fair because he isn't from the time Jules is from. This kids from the future could also be doing it on purpose...
I second what julia said. I think that jules needs to step up his game and get the kid from the future out of the picture. If he likes this girl. so muchl, he should tell her and make an effort to treat her even better then the kid from the future is. as for what jules should say to the kid from the future, he should tell him that he likes her and that he just cant barge in and do that. Jules could also make this kid look bad .
I think Jules should have told the girl that he likes her before the kid who jumped came. I also agree with Julia because if Jules gives the guy some competition, maybe he will realize how much he likes the girl that he will do anything to get her. so the girl will notice how much Jules likes her and she will give him a chance and not pay attention to the other kid.
If I was Jules I would just tell the girl that I liked her. And if she felt the same way then she would stop worrying about this new kid and be with him. And if she did not like him back then Jules would just have to move and face the fact that she does not feel the same way. Trying to sabotage the chance of this new kid having the girl could result in the girl thinking that Jules is a jealous person who wants to make the future child look bad.
i agree with Julia and Not Kyle because Jules should tell the girl he likes her and shows some compitition. he should show the girl that he'll fight for her and what not. jules could go the mean way and tell everyone the kids from the future, but that could end badly. everyone could think that jules is insane and that he just wants the girl all to himself, but he does, so....
I think that he should show her how he feels and talk to her. MAybe find a way to spend time with her. If she did not like Jules the way he liked her, then I guess he'd have to get over her and move on with his life. But he needs to do something to catch her attention or to show her jsut how much she means to him, because if he doesn't he could lose her.
I think that Jules should convince the future boy to stop flirting with Jules's girl because the affects could cause a time paradox. If Jules does not realize these consequences an alternate era could occur. To prevent this tradety he should become a kinder boy to that girl. If that was not working he shoul try and help fix the future boy's jump pack so that everything returns to normal

ANYWAY, if he was really desperate too keep futureboy away from the girl, then Jules should "up his game". Sitting in a corner being jealous isn't going to do him any good. Or, like CharlesM said, he should try to fix the jump-pack and send futureboy on his way.
well, taking action would help. weather it's trying to impress the girl or forcing the boy to "jump" back to the future, actually doing something would help. Jules could do many things, from asking the future boy to leave to threatening him. As the repetitive saying goes,"all's fair in love and war".
I agree with Charles M, if he really wants to get this girl but isn't smooth enough to go and tell her how he feels, and decides to be bitter towards the boy then just try to send him back. Even though it is obvious he should just try and tell her he likes her. But if its last resort, its last resort. As they say, Desperate times, desperate measures.
There are three simple things to do:
1. Ensure that said girl knows of his existance.
2. Find some way to make this "future" kid look bad.
3. If said girl has no idea of your existance, make her know that you exist.
Through these three simple tips, Jules can stop the girl that he likes from getting sucked in by this kid from the future and forever loosing the girl that he likes.
A lot of people are saying that Jules should tell the girl how he feels about her. I disagree with this. It's not easy to just walk up to someone you like and tell the person that you like him/her. If it was that easy we'd all do it, and I assure you it doesn't happen every day. I think Jules should try talking to her, but he should be very subtle. Not just run up to her and tell her he likes her. He should take it easy and just ask her questions like "What was up with our teacher today?" and "Yo, wasn't that test hard?". Stuff like that. Once Jules and the girl are comfortable talking to each other, he can tell her that he thinks she's cool or whatever. If she responds positively, then he can continue. But, if not, maybe she's not worth liking. As for the future kid, Jules should do as much as possible to convince him that the future is better and to find a way to get back.
I think that if the girl truly likes this boy from the future, then Jules should be happy that she is happy. I doubt they are not teenagers, so the outcome of the situation is not exactly of vital importance. Just let life flow the way it wants to, rather than trying to bend it your way. Besides, the kid from the future will most likely return to the future in time. I also really like CharlesM's idea, saying that something bad might happen on the lines of a time paradox, and I know no one wants an alternate dimension to be created...
I agree with Not Kyle, just tell the girl that you like her and if she doesnt like you then, tough luck. There's no point in going after something that will never happen. If she does like you then don't worry about the other kid.
I don't think there is anything that Jules can do to stop that girl from liking the kid from the future. It was the girls cchoice to like him and you can't change how someone feels.
I think that Jules should try to fix the kids jump pack so he would leave but if that didnt work, then i would do what Not Kyle would do an just tell the girl that i liked her.
i would agree with Not Kyle and Kathleen. I think that Jules should have told the girl he liked her, before the jump man came, or even if the jump man is there. it doesn't look like he is leaving soon since his jump pack is not working so he has got to do it sooner then later. I think if she doesn't like him back, then he should face it and get over it.
I agree with tkuch because i wound try to make him leave without letting him know that I hate him or like the girl. In addition the longer he stays the more he wouldn't want to leave and the long he will be will the girl.
I agrre with tkuch entirely. Jules should try to fix the jump pack so that the kid can go back to his time or as tkuch also said just tell the girl you like her.
i think that jules should do more to inpress this girl. If he does not step up to this girl and says anything to her he will only suffer with sadness and confussion. I also agree with Julia because jules has not done anything to inpress or distract her.Why would he think she may like him if she has not even said anthing to her.
i agree...i feel jules should talk to the girl anddo what he can to have her like him because if he doesn't do anything then he will whatch everything happen the way he doesn't want it to so he should do something
i think jules should say to the girl to stop jumping so she can tell her how she feels about the boy. and maybe the girl will not jump and then jules will meet the boy.
i think that jules should talk to the girl he likes because he has to do something. if he doesnt the girl he likes will go out with the other kid. he should try to help the kid fix his jumppack and then he will be gone and will stop hanging out with the girl.
I think that Jules should help the fuure boy fix his jumppack. This would keep the future boy preoccupied of his time completly forgetting about the girl. Giving Jules the opportunity to talk to him. Jules could also try and show the future boy a different girl making the other girl think that she was being cheated on.
I just think he should be himself. Become her friend first. I wouldn't date a guy I barely knew, so he should make himself known, but only by being himself. Honesty works best when trying to impress someone.
I agree with AmandaG. Jules should just talk to the girl and get to know her first. It's not like anything bad could happen. The worst possible thing that could happen, would be the girl ignoring Jules. He needs to be himself and hope for the best, and if she still ignores him, then it's not his fault. He was himself and she didn't like Jules for who he really was.
I agree with JaaaamesK in that Jules should talk to the girl and get to know her better, letting her get to know him better at the same time. If she ends up liking him at all, he just has to make sure that he acts like himself and tries to make the girl see that he is better than Future-Boy. If she doesn't like him, then she's probably not worth going after! He should just try to stand out in her mind as being better than Future-Boy. As for what to DO about Future-Boy, maybe Jules should try to get someone else to like him, or make him like someone else...maybe he could hint to some other girl about how awesome Future-Boy is, and then he'll have the girl he likes all to himself.
I would try to fix the pack, and impress the girl. Two birds w/ one stone. But, try to not make it obvious that he doesn't like the future kid. Try to be friendly, and get the girl.
I agree with tkuch about how jules should try to fix the jump pack. If successful with that attempt to sabotage the relationship with them I would try and comfort the girl that I like. I would tell her it is alright and I am there for her. She would think I was so thoughtful and would like me back. That's what I would do.
jules can stop the kid from stealing his girl by sabotageing the relationship and fixing the jump pack. I agree with lebron on this.
Jules can stop the kid by either explaining to the girl whats going on, or by finding a way to send him back. If not being able to send him back than definetly try and talk to the girl.
I really think that if Jules likes this girl a lot then he should show her and tell her how much he likes her so he could get his feelings out. and if she doesn't accept that she happens to like him back then it wasn't ment to be. But at least he were to try and after maybe he will feel better that he got that off his chest.
Jules should try to talk to the girl like KimPossible said. also he spend time with her instead of sitting around and doing nothing. He should definatly try and also find out if she likes him back because if she doesn't he shouldn't try anymore and he should let her do what makes her happy even if it is letting the other gu spend time with her instead of him.
