I typed in "The City of Bones" (which is a great book) and i got the Artimis Foul series. Are those books any good?

Mariana said...

Sorry BowenS I dont have the answer to that but I did finish another book which I thought was great. Its called "Deadline". This book is mainly about a boy who found out he was going to die in about a year and decided not to tell anyone. He also tries to live his life and do things he would never have done before. This book is very sad an I really do recommend it to everyone!

I have not read any of those books, Marianna and BowenS, but they sound really good. A book that i just recently finished was "The Last Song." It is about a girl named Ronnie who is forced to live with her dad and brother in North Carolina for the summer after her parents divorce and she meets a guy named Will. She starts to fall in love with this guy when she realizes that shes only there for the summer and she has to go back home in New York. Its a really emotional book and it was great!

I read "Beautiful Creatures" and it was a great book. i finished it in two days. i recommend it to everyone who is interested in fantasy, romance, blah blah that kind of stuff. it was really well written too and is full of secrets and suspense.

I also read "The Last Song" by Nicholas Sparks and i loved it! I recently finished "Dear John" also by Nicholas Sparks. It is about a guy named John who meets Savannah during the summer while he is on leave from the army. He has to choose between the love of his life or his country. It was one of the best books I have ever read! I'll warn you now, it is extremly sad so be prepared! :)

Yeah, Bowen, they are pretty good. I read them out of order and didn't have much of a problem. Books 1-4 were pretty good and i read through them pretty quickly. I just couldn't finish whichever book first introduced demons, i think number 5. I don't know why but it was just one of those books that you would read 5 minutes of and out it down for later, I don't know why, but it was unbearable. 1-4 at least are worth reading, maybe not buying unless you can get them at low cost.

CD said...

I agree with Connor, books 1-4 had good plots and all, but I just seemed to get bored while reading book 5 for more than 10-20 minutes at a time. Unless you have a long attention span or are really interested in those types of books, don't buy book 5 unless you find it cheap.

strawberrybria i am reading BEAUTIFUL CREATURES right now and it is pretty good so far. My favorite book is suprisingly not THE TWILIGHT SERIES, for everyone in my class, although they are in the top 10. My favorite book that i have read so far is I HEART YOU, YOU HAUNT ME, by Lisa Shroder(sp?). It is about a girl named Ava whose boyfriend who dies. Thruout the book she is learning to live with the guilt about what happend that day, and how she has to live her own life, or in the words of one of Ava's best friends, Jessa, "Your not the one who is dead." Jessa, Cali, and some of Ava's other friends try to help her get through her deppression. I reccomend this book if you are looking fo a quck read. It is told in verse and only about 250 pages, but it has a very good message.

if anyone has not read "The Hunger Games" yet they should. also, "The City of Bones" is great. so is "The Witch and the Wizard" even though it has a bad name.

A book i suggest is LOOKS, it is a great book about girl is rediculed on her looks, but it doesnt end how like the most of books, she handles the situation differently and it makes for a great book i suggest to all.

Just finished the book "Madapple", slow moving but very interesting bc it switches times and perspectives. The author does a good job of writing in the 1st person POV, something that is often hard to do.

I just finished the book "Fallen" by Lauren Kate. I thought it was alright only because I am one who is either for total action and suspense or total emotion and deepness and this book fell right in the middle for me.There were some parts that I just wanted to skip through and get on with the story. It seemed like it would be the author's first book. I would still recommend this book to girls mostly because it was one that at the end i stopped and thought about it. There is a sequel coming and I am looking forward to reading it.

I liked the book
The Drawing of the Three by Stephen King.
I like dit because the gunslinger Roland is a very mysterious, interesting character. I enjoyed seeing how he handled and interpreted the differen environments he was exposed to.
It is about a man who is a gunslinger, Roland, that must 'draw three cards' in other words, he must bring three people back from their time, into his to help him complete his journey to the Dark Tower, the place he has been looking for, for over twenty years.

i read only good books. i have rarely ever disliked a book that i have chosen to read. I have a fullproof system that i use when trying to find a book. To me there is no such thing as a genre. i will look for books that catch my eye. i will look at titles and covers, if one catches my eye i will read the back to see what the book is about. If i am interested by the story then i will read it. talking about good books that i have read recently, i just fifnished a book called the shadow project today. It was awsome. it was about a normal boy who theives to get bye in life, but then when he is routinely robbing a house he gets mixed in wit this secret society that specilizes in out of body experiences and they will use the people as spys. The boy danny is seemingly a natural at this, but he has to face the evil that has been pulling the strings of the world. He has to decide what is real and what is not for it may just save his life

She faces many problems with the boy and her family.Krisina is really interesting and will always keep surprising you. Its a really great book and I recommend it everyone!

I just finished The Art Of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein. This book is told from a dog's point of view. It is a slow read unless you like stories about the protagonists life. However, the ending was great and there are points in it that really make you think about life. (P.S. I heard Beautiful Creatures is a good book)

An Extremely good book I read is called the compound which you might have read, but anybody that didn’t read it, it’s about a billionaire that builds an nuclear fallout shelter for the his family, too which the book begins with them going into this vault, shelter to escape the radiation of the nuke. The problem is, they can’t leave the vault or they will/ can die. This book really made me think.

Thanks Connor P. for the recommendation. Once I'm done with my book now i'll read Artemis Foul.

Another good book I am reading right now is called "Leviathan". It is about WWI but different. The Central Powers (Germany, Austria-Hungary) have these machines called "Clankers". The Alies (Great Britain, Russia, Belgium) have these morphed animals that are combined with eac other. Its been a good book so far.

Well, what i do when im looking for books is go on www.amazon.com. Just pick the category "books" and type in the name of a book that you read and liked. Click on the book when it comes up and scroll down to where it says "customers who also bought this book". You can look through and see if there are any other books that looks interesting to you. Some books that i have read and really liked are "Twenty Boy Summer", "Living Dead Girl", "Thirteen Reasons Why", "Lucky", "Bad Girls Don't Die", and "Sisters In Sanity".

Twenty Boy Summer: Anna wanted to tell her best friend Frankie that her and Mark (Frankie's brother) were dating, but Mark passed away in a car accident so Frankie has no idea and now Anna and Frankie are about to go on vacation together and try to see who could get the most guys, however, Anna is still stuck on Mark until she meets Sam.

Living Dead Girl: A girl named "Alice" wanted to escape from her kidnapper, Ray, but he kept catching her so she met people who were willing to help her escape and...(i dont want to give away the ending)

Thirteen Reasons Why: Clay wanted to know the real reason of why Hannah Baker commited suicide but he didn't know he had anything to do with her death so he was given a box of 13 chain tapes (kind of like a chain letter but tapes in this situation) and found out the real reasons of Hannah Baker dieing.

Lucky: Phoebe wanted to end the 8th grade year great by planning a huge party with her best friends, but something happen at Phoebe's mom's work so now the family is pretty much poor and Phoebe and her friends are starting to break away

Bad Girls Don't Die: Alexis wanted nothing to do with her family or her school, but her sister Kasey suddenly becomes possessed by an evil dead spirt that haunts her house, so Alexis becomes involved in her family's past and present to do whatever it takes to find out what is haunting her mansion-like home and her little sister, Kasey.

Sisters In Sanity: Brit wanted her stepmother (aka Stepmonster) out of her life, but her dad thinks she's become too separated from the family so she is sent off to Red Rock which is a boarding school/jail/therapy center for girls, and while she's there, she meets a few girls who she knows would do anything for her. They're practically sisters.

The book that i just finished reading was Willow. I wasn't so sure about this book when i got it at the library but as soon as i started to read it, i couldn't put it down. After i finished reading it, it really made me think. This is because after the main character Willow moves in with her brother after her parents died and she starts to get rid of her pain by cutting herself, i really started thinking about how short life can be and how there are so many different ways that people do, to try and make themselves feel better. So, i really recommend this book because it's the kind of book that actually makes you think about life and other important things.

I am just about finished with the Lord of the Rings Series by JRR Tlkien, and I LOVE all of the adventure in them....so I typed Lord of the Rings into the "What Should I Read Next" search box thing. The first book that it suggested was The Host, by Steohenie Meyer. I have heard a little bit about the plot of this book, and I liked the Twilight series for the most part, so I was wondering if anybody had read The Host. Is it any good? Better than Twilight? Sould I read it? Thanks for the Help!

Type-o Correction: *Tolkien, not Tlkien

I also read The Last Song and it was very emotional. i also saw the movie and they were both awesome! i think that girls that like romance between someone more their age, also if they like books that have twist endings then this book is defiantly for you!!

The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan, is the last book I read that I enjoyed a lot. If you are a person who likes action, you would defiantly like parts of this book. One thing I like about it is that it is based on Greek mythology. Other books I've read that involve magic-like people, places or things can get a bit too distant from being reasonable. These books start to seem like a little kids book and get to boring. However, This book uses Greek mythology making its story interesting.

Claire;) I read The Last Song too. It was a good book. When I typed the title in I got a suggestion to read Lock and Key by Sarah Dessen which I am reading right now. I am so far enjoying it so it was a good suggestion, however I am only on pg. 40 .
Nothing exciting has really happened yet.

A book thatbi recently read and really enoyed was The Devil Wears Prada. In it, an aspiring editor named Andy ( it's a girl) needs to get a job. She unknowingly interviews for the assistant of Miranda Priestly, THE ruler of the fashion world. Miranda requires 24/7 assistance and according to Andy is " the devil ". You follow th many insane antics if Miranda from Andy's point of view and see Andy's life falling apart. I liked this book so much because it told it like it was with no hedging. It was alsoin first person which personally I love because you can connect with the character on a personal level. Andy is such a real character and I just really thougt his book was well done. I reccomend it mainly to girls but boys may enjoy it too. This book was excellent.

I just read the book 13 Reasons Why and I reeeeally enjoyed it! I usually don't read realistic fiction, but I decided to give this one a try and it was really great! It's written in a pretty "different" format, most of the book being the main character, Clay, listening to the voice of a girl named Hannah (who committed suicide) through cassette tapes. It tells him the reasons that she did what she did and shows Clay that all of the things people do can affect another, even if it doesn;t seem like such a big deal when they do it. It has a really suspenseful plot and the weird format keeps it pretty interesting...great book! I definitely suggest reading it!

A book i currently read, was "For one More day" .. by Mitch Albon. It really was spectacular how this one man ( a famous baseball player) who played, and how his life started to go bad with his familly and career, so he went driving while he was drunk, and visits the house where he lived and the residence of his dead mother, and while he was there he recaptured the love he had for her, and how much he missed, but wait wasent his mother dead....whoops well she is and its a great ending! its a must read, and its short it only has about 186 pages... awesome book.

One book that I personaly would recomend and absolutely loved was "The Forest of Hands and Teeth" because I loved the beginning when I really got to find out about the Unconsercrated and how the forest is so evil to everyone and if you happen to get to close to it and the forest were to scratch you or bite you then you could get "infected" by it and have to be thrown into the forest to live with the Unconsercrated and become one of them. And that accually happened to Mary's mother. she got a little to close and next thing you know she was thrown into the forest because she broke the rule of the village. Mary is a wonderful character same a Travis, Jed, Harry, and Cassada. It was a very awesome book.
