I think the next book club should be a classic. They are very good, well written stories.
I also think that we should do a classic book so that people have to read older books and experience how they are written. Also they can see how the classic books differ from how the books are today.
I think we should do a classic book as well. I think this because most teens are caught up in the current year that they forget that there was great literature written in previous years.
I think we should do a classic book as well. Everyone these days is so caught up in whats happening now that they dont realize that good writing was also published in the past. Our classes could learn a lot from classic books because they have different meanings then all the books writen now a days.
I also think we should do a classic book so we can learn about how people write now, and how people wrote in the past. They are also written very well.
We should definitely do classic books for the next book club books. Like Julia S said, "I also think we should do a classic book so we can learn about how people write now, and how people wrote in the past." For the people that said fantasy, what would you want to read thats fantasy? Are you thinking like a Twilight/vampire book? If so, I don't really like that because I think everybody has thought about reading things like that, but I hardly hear someone say they're reading a classic book! I think it would be a great change for us!!!
I think that we should do a classic because in 9th grade we need backround knowledge on the classics. My mom sais that she regrets not reading more classic books. It makes you well rounded in your future curriculum. After all, they lasted all these years, so they must be good.
I would like to read classic books because like Julia said, we can compare and contrast between present day books and classic books, however I would also enjoy reading something that takes place present day, so I can connect a little more.
I think we should do a classic because everybody will know the basic storyline. It will work well because the discussion can be on helping people understand the book better. Also, like Z Schulz said it helps us enjoy how good writing was back then.
When I first thought about the kind of book that I would enjoy reading for book club, I would have never said classic. But as I read the other comments and the reasoning behind wanting a classic book I really agree with everyone else. It would give us a chance to learn how different writing and literature has changed from then to now.
I think that we should also do classic books for book clubs because seem very enjoyable to read, it will give every one extra credit points, and Halloween is coming up so we should do a scary classic book.
I definitely would say fantasy books. They really make you want to keep reading because its nothing like anything you have ever read before because it can never actually happen in real life. I think everyone will be more interested in books like these.
I think that we should read fantasy it's an easy and enjoyable. Also the vote on the blog says that 69% of people want to read fantasy so i guess that's why it's winning.
I think sci-fi is a great genre. Good sci-fi is interesting, cerebral, and may even contain real science. It is much more realistic and relatable than fantasy.
I don't know what all you people are thinking about doing a classic. There long, hard to read and are either really bad or really good. My fear is that all the people won't read the book because of one of those reason mentioned above. Then you got the problem of someone just take the free way of copying and just taking what the other people say, rephrasing it and getting a good grade-That's not fair. By the way that seems to be what is happening on this Blog. Someone had an idea for a classic, fine I respect their opinion. Then another person also said that. Okay it's not strange 2 people like classics. Then I'll see is, I also think we should read a classic-rephrasing what someone else, and then maybe a adding a little new idea at the end. Then I saw someone throw fantasy out there. AND THE SAME PATTERN REPEATED. Well golly we should switch the title to classic or fantasy. Come on people WAKE UP. I know you other ideas too so don't take the easy and lazy way out. I personally think we should read non-fiction because it teaches you things as you read it and it’s very interesting. Also if you’re ever confused you can always turn to internet for a simpler explanation of the event. If people don't think this way-fine, but please someone throw another idea out there and I hope the pattern doesn't repeat again.
I think that we should do fantasy books because they are my favorite kinds of writing. I also think that we should do fantasy because they help us connect to an unreal world. I feel that it's exciting to read books that include things that are not real because its different and overall more exhilarating.
Agh that last post wa to go somewhere else, but I agree with Tyler, classics are just terribly hard to read and understand, sometimes it's like either reading a book In a different language or reading something stupid like Cinderella... So please, no classics!
I think it would be a good idea to choose our own groups genre because it would make the reading more enjoyable and we would not have a reason to not like the book. we would get more out of the experience.
I think that we should be our on genre like AntA said because it would more diversfy the class. We could have a list of genres and we have to do at least one of each by the end of the year. That means the everyone could learn about the different genres and discuss the similarities and differences in the genres. It would be fun because we could compare them to the other books that we have read in order to seriously understand all of the genres. But if this were not the case then I say that we should do either syfy or classics because they are two of my favorite genres to read and to discuss about. We already did my favorite genre Historical Fiction so a change to something completely different would be a nice change of pace for the classes. I really think that we (our group should have a choice in the type of genre though. What I mean is that each group has a different genre which would be fun and even more educational for the entire class and for the whole entire team teachers included. It will be a great experience for the rest of the year
I think that we should do fantasy for our next book club. My friends and I all love fantasy, so i think that we will have a lot more fun with a bookclub book if we like the genre.
I think we should should to do fantasy as our next book club. Fantasy is very interesting. It makes me read faster because when I read a book I like then I read faster. Fantasy is fun. I don't want to do it on classic books because to me most classic books are boring!
i just want to defend one of my favorite genres. not all classics are long or boring. i have read many that are intreting and good writing. alice in wonderland by lewis caroll is one of my favorite books. it wasnt that long of a book, maybe 200 pages. so all this comments about classics being boring are really just stereotypes.
I think that the next book club book genre should be like real heavy realistic fiction. Realistic fiction is very intense especially if it deals with terrible real world scenerio's such as deaths, depression, being sexually abused, etc.
Everyone seems to want a classic a or fantasy, however, I am not fond of either genres. I think we should go with a realistic fiction book with very strong themes and character development. These books tend to be my favorites because it is usually very easy to connect or sympathize with the characters. I, however cannot sympathize with a girl in love with a vampire. Sorry.
I think that a classic book wouldbe fun. With everything happening with our lives everyones reading fantasy and books with drama and real life situations. I think it would be good to get back to the basics and read some classical books.
I most definetly agree with Leann becuase if we get to pick our own books, we would pick the books that we like and are interested in. We would stay focused and we would have more to discuss when we get with our groups.
I think the kind of book should be non-fiction like a biography because the can be interesting to read about. However I don't want to read about George Washington or Napoleon, I want to read about a famous sports player or war veteran from current day. If it was from 200 years ago than I don't want it but if it was from 10 to 75 years ago than it could be good and interesting.
I most definitly agree with Leann because if we get to pick our own books, we would pick the books that we like and are interested in. We would stay focused and we would have more to discuss when we get with our groups. We would have more opinions on the book and more questions. I also think this would result in better grades when Mr. Horvath comes around and checks.
I think we should get to read a science fiction book because the are fun and suspenseful. If the are well written it is very entertaining. I don't think any one will be bored with a science fiction book.
I don't honestly care which genre we choose because we will probably eventually read them all which I think is a good thing. This will expose to people to types of literature which they don't usually read. I usually have a closed mind when it comes to reading but I think having to not only read a different book but also have to analyze it.
Before reading these comments on classical books, i would have never picked it. But now i realize how we actually should take a look at this genre of books because we should read how older books were written. I think fantasy is also a good choice.
If i had actually voted then i probably wouldve picked fantasy. this is the type that most people voted for. Like ted said i think that we will end up reading all the different genres too. I think classic will also be a fun type to read and also sci fi will be a fun type to read.
I think fantasy was a good choice but i think i would have picked classic even though i forgot to vote. Anyway i agree what Ted said we are probably going to read all the different genres during the year.
we got fantasy which is a good thing. Fantasy is a genre with many magnificent books in it. My group is reading Everlast which seems really good yet a little on the creepy side. It will be a good book club and we can always do the other genres throught the year during the future clubs
even though we already have a new book club book, can the next book club books be classics because i really want to see how much different books used to be written to books being written now.
I think we should do classic for one of two reasons; number one many classics have to be read in high school. for example, "to Kill a Mocking Bird" is required to be read in your sophomore or junior year and reading it today would help your understanding of the book. Therefore, a timeless classic like to kill a mocking bird would help your high school career. reason two;these classics give out universal and always needed themes. In Frankenstein, the book it gave a theme of all people are not the same because the protagonist, Frankenstein was rejected by all the people, even his creator. Therefore it is teaching you that all people are different in some way and not to make fun of them if they are.

i think we should do classic books. there are great old classic books that would be great for us to read.
I think we should do a bokk of the month book for extra creadet. Im reading a book of the month book and its amazing. Its easyly my favorite book.
I also think that we should do a classic book so that people have to read older books and experience how they are written. Also they can see how the classic books differ from how the books are today.

I think we should read a fantasy because they are easy to read and enjoyable.
I also think we should do a book of the month because we would get extra credit to help our grades and we are guaranteed to read a good book.
I'm not sure what to read next book club, but right now im thinking horror because haloween is soon

yay! fantasy is wining! this is a good topic because its always fun and easy to fall into. definitely easier to start conversations for book club.
I definitely would say fantasy books. They really make you want to keep reading because its nothing like anything you have ever read before because it can never actually happen in real life. I think everyone will be more interested in books like these.
i agree, i thiink a classic would be great, i love classic stories, and a lot have better writing or themes to appreciate.
Fantasy is my vote. Although it wouldn't be bad if it included some scifi. My vote is still FANTASY.
i dont get how fantasy is winning... i just read every comment, and it seemed most said classic, few said book of the month or fantasy. Please explain

No! Please no fantasy. I don't like fantasy at all. I would enjoy like drama or romance. However I don't think the guys will want hat.
Fantasy! I vote for the Twilight Saga! Vampire Book. Plus, a Romance Book is perfect.
I also think we should do non-fiction because we can learn stuff about the topic of the event
I think sarahs key should be a book of the month because it's a good way for people to learn about what the Nazi did to the Jewish
Agh that last post wa to go somewhere else, but I agree with Tyler, classics are just terribly hard to read and understand, sometimes it's like either reading a book In a different language or reading something stupid like Cinderella... So please, no classics!

I think the next book club book genre should be fantasy. I think I would enjoy reading a fantasy book because I don't read fantasies that often.
I think our next genre should be a more exciting genre like fantasy or syfy. Kids i think would enjoy these more than historical fiction
Can someone explain how to vote on this? i cant find it
I think we should now do syfy beacuse that is one of my favorites and it is very enjoyable to most people. Fantasy is Stupid
I think that a classic book wouldbe fun. With everything happening with our lives everyones reading fantasy and books with drama and real life situations. I think it would be good to get back to the basics and read some classical books.

I think a nice classic book would be great. This would be nice because I can really follow the story more and pick up more important things.
I think we should get to read a science fiction book because the are fun and suspenseful. If the are well written it is very entertaining. I don't think any one will be bored with a science fiction book.
I think we should read science fiction because it seems more entertaining and a bit more relistic than fantasy and it doesnt involve magic.

I agree with danielle. Usually I don't like books that were written a while ago, but it would be interesting to compare present day and past writing.
i dont care what the next book club book is because i always find a good book that i dont mind reading
i dont care what the next book culb we have next because i always find a good book to read
i like when we have book clubs because i always find a good book to read
i like when we do book talks because we get to pick out the book and i always end up likeing the book i read.

I say we do mystery because it keeps you in suspense and makes you keep on reading it.
