I like how there is spooky books for the book of the month knowing that Halloween is right around the corner. I love creepy kind of books so I am very excited to read one of the books. Also reading one of the books of the month will really get me excited and ready for Halloween! I can't wait to read one. I just need to pick one now which will be hard.

Today i saw someone reading "Beautiful creatures" i asked them how it was because at first i was a little worried that i wouldnt like it. They said at first it was slow and when it got to the climax she couldnt put it down. Right now im in the middle of a good book so i cant dive into this one, but im definatly looking forward to it. Last months book of the month was The Dark Divine, i finsihed that in a good weekend. I really enjoy how we have our own selection but theres books that are offered and suggested.

I am reading Dracula. it is very good an I like it alot Nothing has really happened yet. I think that it is just warming up and is going to get really good soon. Jonathan is just starting to figure out what the count is but he is not entirely sure yet. He is although very afraid of the count and worries for himself. It is a great book and I would reccomend it to anyone (even though it is a little long). Also it has great description all throughout it.

I think Unwind sounds really good and I think I'm going to like it a lot! I also think it is a great idea that all of the books are spooky/scary because of the time of year (Halloween if you didn't get that). All of these sound great!!!!

Thanks! :D

I just read beautiful Creatures and it was an awesome book. Even though it was 365 pages long i couldnt put the book down and read it all in 4 days.I liked the setting of Georgia and also how the story as also based on the civil war area. The characters were well written because they seem like everyday people but then when you read what they can do they are like a whole different person. This book was filled with suspense and a thrilling adventure. I would recomend this book to everybody. Good book of the month!

I think I will read one of the two classics. I tend to read lots of older books and I like them more than the newer books. All of those books look interesting but the two that stand out are the two classics.

I was trying to find the book Dracula to read along with two other people but we couldnt find it. im pretty sure id like it though. hope its good.

I read "The Help." It was really interesting to see how different the south was in the 1960s than the north is now. It's horrible to see the way some people were treated. It was an awesome book, though.

i read skin hunger, this was one of my favorites, plenty of interesting characters and an amazing story. i love how it jumps back and forth between the two stories because though they are different they still intertwine making you think allot more about how the characters in both stories got there.

I totally agree with ZoZo about how the books are all spooky and that it’s an appropriate time of the year for these kinds of topics! I am very excited because I will actually be starting Unwind tomorrow. I just finished Torment, the sequel to Fallen and thought it was great! I would recommend both Fallen and its sequel to anyone who likes unusual types of stories. I hope that Unwind will be just as great as the book that I just finished reading and I am looking forward to it! Plus, I get extra credit points!!! :) Yayy!

My mom read The Help, she carried it with her and told many people it was her favorite book, she often talked about how poorly people were treated and it wasn't that long ago!

I read Frankenstein. It was an emotional rollercoaster to follow the main character, Victor, as he went through long periods of depression throughout the book. It was also interesting to see what was happening to the monster and hear his side of the story.

I am about half way done with Beautiful Creatures. This book is great! This book makes me wonder and question a lot and really gets my brain to start moving. There is always something exciting and something happeining, never a dull moment which is the books I like. I enjoy reading books like that because I have a short tension span with books and this book is perfect and makes me want to read more!

I read Fallen. I thought this book was amazing! I have never read a book like it before and it was very interesting. This book was filled with very suprising and exciting moments. It was about 2 people in love, but with a fantasy twist on it. The 452 pages never lacked excitment and wonder, i was never bored. I cant wait to read the second book, Torment!

I just finished Fallen by Lauren Kate and I think it was one of the best books I've ever read. I got about a third of the way through the book and I couldn't get myself to put it down. It's about a girl named Luce who was sent to a reform school and is drawn towards a certain guy who she swears she's met before but doesn't know where. It was a very addicting book and I highly recommend it! I am so excited to read the second book, Torment.

I just finished Beautiful Creatures and it was one of the best books that I have ever read. It was so full of emotion and suspense that it kept me at the edge of my seat the whole entire time I was reading it. With so many twists and turns it was hard to put down. I loved the relationship between Ethan and Lena and just thought they were the cutest couple in the world! Over all I would rate this book a 10 out of 10! So happy I read it!

I read The Help. It was enlightening. I really liked how it switched perspectives between Shooter, Minnie, and Abilene. I loved to see Minnie's perspective because I liked her spunky personality and attitude. Her thoughts really drove home the effects of racism in the south during this time period.

Is the Replacement a book of the month? I know its not on the list, but I thought I saw it up on the wall in Horvath's class. ok I guess I'll blog about it anyway...

So yeah, I read the Replacement, and I thought it was really good! There were definatly some parts that were disturbing though, but almost in a fascinating way that pulls you into the book more. The Relpacement had a plot that was far from cliche, and I really liked that about it. I mean, most books I read have the classic boy falls for girl plot, or visa versa, and I think it was cool how this book did't. It was about how the 'undead' took children from the town to let their Lady drink their blood. In the childrens' place, they put one of there own, but they usually end up dying off. However, the main character in this book was one of the replacements who survived! I think that put a cool twist on things.

I agree with Kim that Fallen by Lauren Kate was one of the best books that i have ever read by far. It was the perfect mix of adventure, love, fantasy, and mystery. Every single word had you hanging. I seriously did not put it down. Instead of reading for a half hour, I ended up reading for two hours! I knwo that there is a second one and a third coming in the summer of 2011 but i hope she keeps writing! These books are AMAZING!!!

i just finished Dracula by Bram Stoker. It was a great book. The endu=ing was spectacular as was the rest of the book. Parts of it were hard to get through because they were either sad or grusome yet other parts so good that I had to read them over and over again to fully understand them. I would reccomend this book to anyone who likes suspenseful horror books.

Kay, so I KNOW that Unwind is a book of the month... I just finished reading this and it was really good! Like the Replacement, this book had a unique plot. I have never read a book about kids who get unwound and have their bodies reused, and that defiantly kept me reading! In all, the whole concept of being unwound fascinated me, but I feel like the book was written for younger ages. The text for some reason seemed dumbed down a bit so younger readers could grasp it, but other than that I really liked it!

I read Franenstein. It was really good except for that it was difficult to read because it was written in the 1800s. The language they used was more elaborate and flowed. It was nice to hear Frankenstein's monsters side of the story too and hear how horrible his life was.

RoryO. said...

I totally agree with Maren that the book Unwind is unique and fascinating. This is because the concept and what goes on is so different from what I have read before. I find it both kind of cruel and amazing about what they do to the people who get "unwound". I think that giving other people's body parts to the people that need them is great, but I don’t think that you should be able to just give your child away. Find another way to help. Anyway, I thought that it was a fantastic book!!!

I wanted to read dracula with two other people but i couldn't find the book so i didnt get to read it. Im looking forward to the books of the month for november though because i think that the extra points would be good and the books this month seemed good so i hope next month's are too

I read Unwind last year and since Mr. Horvath discourages rereading books I'll try to get as many others to read it because I loved this book. In this alternate United States where unwanted children in the teenage years can be unwound at the parents order. This means there body is taken apart and others in need can use them. When the main character Connor finds out he is going to be unwound he runs away and eventually meets two other unwinds. He and others try to find the mythical safe haven where unwinds can be safe. This is an amazing page turner with unbelievable twists. I hope everyone reads it even though it is now November and it isn't a book of the month anymore.

I started reading "Beautiful Creatures" in October but I didn't quite finish it by the end of the month. I did finish it a few days after October 31st though. I know I'm a slow reader, but could anyone tell me if I could still get the extra credit??
