My favorite educational show when i was young, was sesame street! So many kids learned how to count from this show including me! So many kids watched it too! Below the video, it says,"The most widely viewed children’s show in the world, it’s an enduring classic that just seems to get better and better with age." Many kids must have learned lots from here!

My favorite TV show when i was a little kid was cyberchase because the characters made me laugh, the way they looked and all, but also because I learned how to do a lot of things from cyberchase, like math. The kids that watched this show probably learned a lot from it

I used to watch 3 of the 10 shows on that list almost all of the time. Those 3 are CyberChase, Sesame Street(who hasn't watched that?), and the Magic School Bus becuase it just so happened that whenever I turned the TV on, 1 of those shows were on. Therefore, when I was a child, I watched CyberChase, Sesame Street, and the Magic School Bus.

I know that I enjoyed Bill Nye the science guy because i have actually seen it before. i know i enjoyed this telivision show because i would get up early on a saturday morning and watch it untill the theme song was stuck in my head. this proves that i liked this show because i wouldn't get up (knowing me) on a saturday morning and watch a show that i didn't like.

I agree with u don't know me because I used to watch CyberChase, Sesame Street and The Magic School Bus. I learn easy math like counting and adding/subtracting from the shows. I think these are the most watched shows.

Magic School Bus, Beep Beep! Haha, I still remember the theme song.

@sethblog: i agree with you that people that watched cyberchase learnd alot and also had fun learning it. i know this because i watched this show to and i learned alot of things like that over watering a plant is just as bad as underwatering it. this proves that people learned stuff from cybercase because if i learned the fact above (and many others) then someone else must have too.

I agree with you that CyberChase enriches kids in areas of math. You previously said," The kids that watched this show probably learned a lot from it". Therefore, I also share that same view with you.

Out of the ten I watched 3 of those shows. The Magic School Bus, Cybercase, and obviously Sesame Street. Out of those three my favorite was Cybercase because of the way the characters looked and after the show the real life connection. This show taught children about math and I'm guessing that's one of the reasons math is one of my best subjects. Also Cybercase made learning fun and the different ways that they incorporated math drawled the viewer in. Therefore, Cybercase is my favorite educational show because you learn math, but in a fun way.

I know this because i watched this show to and i learned a lot of things like that over watering a plant is just as bad as under watering it. There was also so many more things that were taught to me when I was little which now a days I use this knowledge as common sense or at least think of it as common sense. Some people may pick up different things than I did while watching that show. These shows but in the end we have a same general idea and or purpose to the In conclusion this proves that people learned stuff from cyber case because if i learned the fact above (and many others) then someone else must have too.

One of the main shows I watched was Reading Rainbow. I did not have cable TV so when I was a kid up to 5th grade I only watched educational shows. The review talks about how each episode was focused on a book and you would explore different themes. It was a fun way to encourage me to read. I have always loved to read and this is one of the reasons why. It introduced me to new and interesting books, and it made reading them fun!

Ali M. said...

I also occasionally watched the magic school bus and sesame street. I agree with you don't know me that these are some of the most commonly watched shows for children. When I was little I did not have cable, and I still got these shows. This shows that if you have a TV you will most likely have seen one of these shows. You said whenever I turned the TV on one of these shows was likely on. This is true because these shows are very popular. I think that most kids with a TV have seen an episode of the magic school bus or sesame street.

I also never had cable and watched channel 13 cyber chase. This was my favorite educational show when in was little. All day it would play along with a couple other shows like cyber chase where you learn basic stuff as a children

edemace said...

@sethblog I agree with you because it showed you the basics for math and did a lot with math. And yes the characters did look a little funny!

When I was a kid I had heard these shows but never bothered to watch them because I was too bored.But from what small little parts I had watched I had learned much for example in Sesame Street I had learned how to count to four. In the magic school bus I learned some science in a fun way for both shows. So since I have learned some math and science from these shows than clearly are educational for the fact that you cover two subjects in two shows out of the four main ones so ten must be really educational.

Man on the Moon said...

@sethblog I agree with you that these shows are very academic and entertaining because a lot and I would laugh like you had talked. I think that these shows don't just teach academic things they in the process prove that learn can be learning and encourage going to school because you realize that you are learning after awhile and see that it is fun and give you a motive to learn more because you want to have more fun. This is a motive because a motive that gives you reason to do something and this gives you that reason and learning is that thing.

When I was a kid, I watched Cyberchase, Reading Rainbow, Between the lions. Magic School Bus, etc. I really loved watching between the lions because it taught me new words and lessons. I enjoyed watching the lion puppets as well. It kept me captivated at a young age, so the show was fun and easy to watch.

I also used to watch Cybercahase as a kid adn today I also think it was a good show for children. Like you said, it was funny which kept me entertained, but at the same time I was learning math and science without even realizing it because I was having such a good time watching the show! When you said, "The kids that watched this show probably learned a lot from it." I was one of those kids, and because of that I agree with you that Cybercahse is a good TV show for children.

@nosferatu I agree with what you said because when I was a kid I would wake up every morning and watch Sesame Street too. Therefore, I watched a lot of Sesame Street when I was a kid like you.

I watched one of the shows - cyberchase. I don't really know why I liked it so much, but probably because of the ending. At the ending, they used what you learned during the show and use real people to act stuff out based on what you learned. Therefore, I liked seeing real people in shows, so I liked the show because of the ending.

I remember really enjoying Bill nye the science guy mostly because of his awesome science lessons, but also his catchy theme song. I really enjoyed each of his episodes because it always taught me things in which it almost always remember. So, even though Bill Nye has an awesome theme song, he still is... BILL NYE THE SCIENCE GUY!

My favorite educational television show when I was younger was "Blue's Clues". This is because I liked solving mysteries and singing along to the songs. When Blue left three footprints for Steve to solve the crime it always got me hooked. When the mail box sang the "Mail Time" song a smile would always cross my face because it was so catchy. "Blue's Clues" taught me how to become a good detective and it introduced me to my singing career.

@ sethblog I agree with you that the characters in Cyberchase were funny. I think this because they always had funny comments about things that were sometimes stupid, which made me laugh as a four year old. Also, I though the robot bird on the show was also funny, because I had never heard of a robot animal at my age. Therefore, at my age, Cyberchase was a funny show because of what the characters said.

i used to watch CyberChase,Sesame Street, The Magic School Bus, and between the Lions all the time. i remember that these were the only show i ever watched before i discovered other shows like Spongebob. once i found the other non-educational shows i watched those everyday but i still watched the other educational shows at least once a day.

@sethblog I agree with you because the characters of CyberCase did make me laugh, especially Didget because of the way he talked and since he always had the items they needed. So I would have to say for alll of us us " yes I would whatch this when I was a kid!"

One T.V. show I watched when I was a kid was Cyberchase. I actually really enjoyed Cyberchase. I liked Cyberchase becuase of the characters. The kids were funny but still smart and I liked that as a kid. I even liked the freak robot-chicken crossbred monstrosity that still freaks me out today. The robobird had a funny voice and was always the funnniest out of the group. Even the bad guy and his little monster groupies were entertaining to me. The little minions were hilarious with there stupidity. The bad guy was a little bit funny but I felt kinda bad for him because he seemes so lonely and mean. Cyberchase had an exciting plot and entertaining characters. Cyberchase just put in math very subtly so I didn't notice it was an entirely math and science show.

Isabelle G. said...

@AVglek17
I agree with you. I agree with you because when I was a kid I also watched Cyberchase. Cyberchase is a good T.V. show for kids becuase it teaches kids math very subtly so kids don't think that the show is educational and boring. Cyberchase was educational but I didn't realize it. I was too tangled in the plot and entertained by the hilarious characters. This is why Cyberchase was a good educational show. It slipped in the education making it a cool and funny show for kids and not focused entirely on education.

To be honest I have never really watched any of these, better yet I have not even hard of the majority of them so my favorite one of this list of classics would have to be sesame street. I say this because it was entertaining between the different characters with different personalities and crazy voices and the many parts to each episode, it never made me bored. For the caption for sesame street it says, "We’d never forget Sesame Street." Which means they would never forget to put it on the list. I agree with them because everybody knows about sesame street after all its, "The most widely viewed children’s show in the world."

Grace S. said...

Personally, I think all of these shows are great for little kids to learn from. I really enjoyed Magic School Bus and Sesame Street as a kid. They were both funny yet they still were educational so I got something of them. ALso, there was always some sort of adventure that kept me entertained.

Grace S. said...

@THEBIGRU,
I agree with what you said about Sesame Street and the Magic School Bus because those TV shows were probably two of my favorite ones on this list. Sesame Street was funny so little kids really enjoyed watching it, and the Magic School Bus, as you said, was very educational. It would always show Ms.Frizzle's class of students going on an adventurous field trip to all different places and trying to solve things. All in all, I really had a good time watching these shows when I was younger.

G-MAN said...

When I was younger I watched loads of these shows and loved them because they were intersting and I learned so much. Cyberchase was my favorite! It had an interesting plotline that sent three kids in a cyber world that combined sci-fi and fantasy elements with math! There was an antagonist, Hacker, and a benign ruler, Motherboard which added a computer element to the mix. The plotline was actually very interesting and so were the actual human actors who taught even more math concepts. I was able to learn alot from this show . When watching an episode I learned not just basic fractions but on my own I figured out how all fractions worked and I was able to add and simplify them at the age of five! From Wishbone I learned Shakespeare, Reading Rainbow gave me a passion to write, and between the lions just encouraged my pursuit for knowledge even more. Gawain's Word! Since these shows such as Cyberchase were extremely intersting and taught be basic concepts such as fractions, I love them and would still enjoy watching them now.

G-MAN said...

@Sethblog
I agree with you because I also learned alot about math from cyberchase. One example is from the episode where Hacker and Motherboard were both running to be leaders of Cyberspace I learned about the side lengths of triangles and how you can't make a triangle from any three sticks. Another example is from when they were in Shangrula and had to restore the good vibration. That episode talked about doubling and multiplication patterns where I learned that what may seem faster or better in the begining isnt always the best option. The show even taught me a little about Greek Mythology introducting me to characters like Atlas, Zeus, and The Fates. Therefore, Cyberchase taught me alot about math because it explored a different concept everyday withing in new, intersting, settings.

When I was Little I liked to watch magic school bus, sesame street, and cyber chase. These shows all have cartoon characters, and visuals that I think are more interesting and fun to watch then a show of adults just talking. I think kids enjoy watching these kind of shows more because there's more of a story and they wouldn't really think of it as learning, just a TV show. That makes it more fun to watch, but they're still learning.

Jess m said...

@THE BIG RU I agree with you about the magic school bus being funny and educational. It and characters each with their own personality and kids like us. Each episode had a different story which made it fun and interesting. But at the came time each show had a lesson, so from each episode you would learn something knew and enjoy. So I thought the show was fun and educational.

One of my favorite TV shows as a kid was Sesame Street because I loved the characters and it was fun while educational. For example, I remember “Count” taught me how to count in a fun way. Also, I loved all of the characters like Big Bird, Elmo, and the Cookie Monster! I even remember when I used to learn new words from this show. I don’t really remember one but I looked up a video and it showed a guy with the cookie monster explaining the word fragile. Therefore Sesame Street was not only a fun show, but it was educational too. This is why Sesame Street was one of my favorite shows when I was little.

I agree with you @Jess because I also think that these shows are fun to watch and teach kids a lot at the same time. For example, in the magic school bus, the kids take adventures to many places and at the end they usually learn something. When I watched it when I was little, I just thought the show was fun to watch. However, I was actually learning something every episode. I also agree with you when you said these shows have visuals and cartoon characters that are more interesting than adults just talking. Even though these shows are fun, they are educational and teach kids a lot.

This show is a great educational show that teaches children how to count, sing the abc's, and other things that would help them in their first years at school. The second show is Cyberchase. This show is all about simple math and the kids' adventures and enimies that they have to face. The third show is one that children do not usually watch, that show is Between the Lions. This show would help children with basic words and vocabualary. Those vocabualary word are shown by people doing the thing that the word is. I loved these shows a lot becasue they made me learn in a fun way.

When I was younger I used to whatch Zoboomafoo. I used to love this show, I usually cannot sit through TV shows because i get bored of them. But not Zoboomafoo, with this show, I was entertained by the animals this show also explained what animals liked and did not as well as how they behaved. I used to whatch Cyberchase as well. I still am shocked that I was able to sit through this show, becuase I looked at a clip of it to refresh my memory, and I was utterly discusted! I suppose that I used to like this show mostly because of the good-to-know things that I learned just from watching a show. Good-to-know things such as, problem solving skills. I suppose that I am glad I watched this show as a kid, when it was more relevent.

@ Isablle G.,
I agree with you, you said thatthe math and science was put in the show in a very subtle way. Have you seen other shows that had math or science included in it when you were younger, to compare the two with? And if Cyberchase was not as subtle with including math and science, would you not be as entertained as much as you were with it being subtle? Or because of the "freak robot bird" thing and little monsters you would still be entertained enough to whatch it if you were as young as you were then? I don't think I would be, for me the science and math would take away from the charcters, and everything you get confusing.

@sethblog, I agree with you because in most of these cartoony shows, or any of these educational shows, they made it funny so it would spark our interest to keep us watching while behind it all, we were learning new skills. So, for most of these shows, they took learning and silliness and put it together to keep us watching.

I loved it so much that the next time I went to the library I looked for the VCR tapes there and brought one home. I liked it because it had a fun topic and was educational, but enjoyable. Therefore, the show was so interesting, that I watched every single tape that the library had.

I watched a lot of these shows as a little kid, but one of my favorite ones was the Magic School Bus because it was full of interesting information and didn't have any of the cheesy songs that a lot of shows for kids had back then. I know this because each show had a different science topic to talk about, like electricity or space. They never had shows about friends or friendship troubles, either. Since the information the show carried was new to me it was very interesting, and the cheap songs those days were mostly about friends and their problems, I enjoyed the Magic School Bus immensly.

They teach stuff in a fun way and kids don't even know they are learning. Also there is a story in each show which is what the kids like. So these shows are fun to watch and educational. kids don't know they are learning.

I watched Cyberchase, Sesame Street, and The Magic School Bus. My favorite one was Cyberchase, because it was funny and educational. The characters had funny voices and names, but they taught you many new things while going on wild adventures.

I thought Veggie Tales was hilarious and used to watch it. I didn't watch it as a little kid, but saw more as i got older. They were always teaching something throughout the show and they told you what at the end.

I watched magic school bus and cyberchase. Out of those two my favorite was cyberchase. For some reason I always the characters. They also taught you things that you need to know in everyday life while making it funny at the same time. Magic school bus did that too, but as a kid I would always want to stay up late like a "big boy" and the only time that i watched cyberspace was at dinner so i did get to stay up a bit. But with magic school bus, no. That was on at around lunch time. Overall I enjoyed cyberspace.

I agree. Cyberchase was a funny/educational TV show. I really enjoyed watching that show. They did go on wild adventures and they did teach me about pizza fractions wile on an adventure. Even though i dont remember the characters exact names i do remember laughing at them.

My favorite tv show as a kid was the Magic School Bus. I liked the show because it was funny, and I didn't realize it, but it taught me science, math, and history. Nowadays, it even teaches me things. Last year they put on Magic School Bus in my class and it taught me about the topic we were learning about. That's why my favorite show when I was little was Magic School Bus.

Yes I think I would have enjoyed one of these when I was a kid. I think this because these shows look like they would have been very interesting. I think this because some of them are about science and I loved science when I was a kid

When I was little, I used to watch Cyberchase. Cyberchase was educational and fun to watch when I was like 5. I know it's educational because in every episode they talk about math, or science, or another important subject. In one episode, they talk about fractions, and how they are parts of a whole. In aother episode, they talk about shapes, and how certain shapes are triangle, squares, etc. Therefore, since Cyberchase is educational, Cyberchase is an educational show that is fun to watch from when I was younger.

@ JVG412,
I agree with you that The Magic School Bus is an educational show. I know that the Magic School Bus was educational because it teaches you about math, science, and the real world. In one episode, they go into someone's body and teach you about what's inside of you. In another episode, they go to space and teach you about the planets, gravity, and how cold it is in space! Therefore, since The Magic School Bus was an educational show that taught you about science, I agree that the Magic School Bus is an educational show.

When I was little,I enjoyed watching Magic School Bus. It was every educational in just about every episode, but in different ways. They taught me about history, science, and math from what I can remember.

Most of these shows I barely watched. My favorite show is probably Cyberchase, because it involved math and science. Math and science are my two favorite subjects, so I watched that show a lot.

I agree that Cyberchase was a good show. It had good characters that were sometimes funny. But they also taught you about math and science that you would come across all the time.

My favorite show I was younger was 'Liberty Kids' because it was entertaining and relatable. It contained information from the past, but made it interesting for little kids. It didn't just say events and dates, it put it into little adventures and made it fun. Also, it was relatable. In one of the episodes, the boy developed a crush for the girl, his best friend. In school, this happens a lot.

@abc123come withme, Personally, I disagree with you. I HATED Bill Nye the science guy because it didn't entertain me that much. That might be because I didn't enjoy science as a kid. I found the show very bland and boring.

sesame street was my to favorite show to watch.No i do not think i would watch any of these there just not interesting to me. At least the one's i watched had comedy.

Chris G i agree with magic school bus they could teach you somthing for every subject.

I watched CyberChase as a kid. I enjoyed watching it because it was about some kids in outer space with a robot bird who fought bad guys. It let children learn indirectly and I didn't even know I was learning. I think this is good because it increases the knowledge of children but they do not get bored.

The1 said...

@anonymous,
I agree with you that magic schoolbus tought kids every subject. I think this because in one episode, they traveled through blood vessels and learned about science but in another episode they learned how sould waves traveled throught air. This is a good thing because children will enhance their knowledge at a younger age.

I agree with you. I loved the show Cyber Chase! It actually was an educational show that taught us something. I would have to say that this cool show was one of my favorites. Probably for the same reasons as you. I loved all the colorful missions and mysteries the gang had, and the bird (I don't remember his name) was hysterical for me when I was little. That is why I agree with you.

When I was little my favorite show was either Cyberchase or Wishbone. I liked these because they were funny and taught you something at the same time. Also I like the funny voice of the bird in Cyberchase and I thought the dog was cute in Wishbone. Strangely though, when I was little I disliked most of the other shows unless we were wasting time by watching them in school. The only other one I sometimes watched was Sesame Street because I liked cookie monster. I think these are good shows for kids to watch and are very educational!

I didn't like Bill Nye because I thought he was to happy and was always very hyper. Also waking up early on a Saturday doesn't prove that you liked it, it just means that you woke up early. For example I dislike NCIS with a passion, but sometimes I wake up just to watch it before Criminal Minds to compare them and talk about how annoying it is. So, I don't think that waking up early to watch it proves that you liked the show.
