My favorite Mystery book(s)/ series was probably the Encyclopedia Jones books. I liked these books because when the end of the chapter came, all you had to do was flip to the back of the book to see what the answer to the mystery of that chapter was

My favorite mystery book I ever read was probably Nancy Drew. Even though I only read one of the books and forget what it was mostly about, I thought it was pretty good.

I never really read a mystery book. but one book I read was called Run for your life by James Patterson. I talked about a detective who goes on a look out for a serial killer, that’s what he thinks. He believed that god is telling him to do this so he does it. At the end he kills the teacher by a plane crash into an ocean killing and drowning the teacher. The detective lives and saved the lives of 15 cops and about 500 innocent people.

My Favorite mystery book to read would probably be Encyclopedia Brown. This is because I enjoy it and I love solving the mystery's and that is what those books let us do. Solving mystery's is a fun thing to do, and is the reason I love Encyclopedia Brown books.

My favorite mystery book that I have read was probably Nancy Drew. Nancy Drew was my favorite series because there were very exciting mysteries to solve within each of the books. Also, during each book there is some adventure, which are one the parts that I like the most. So, adventure and mystery are what I like to see in a book and is the reason I enjoyed reading Nancy Drew.

KirillR98 said...

My favorite mystery book was the Encyclopedia Brown series. The Encyclopedia series had multiple extremely challenging mysteries (considering I had read them when I was in first grade). The mysteries and people telling me about them, were enough to convince me to read these amazing books.

KirillR98 said...

@Colat3alDamag3
I agree with you because I had also said that the Encyclopedia Brown Series was my favorite mystery book. This was because it had several mini mysteries in each book and all of them made me think about what the answer was going to be. It was challenging and that made want to read it even more.

I enjoy reading mystery books but mostly realistic fiction mysteries. Most books by Peg Kehert and Margret Peterson Haddix are mysteries and I like any of those, because they are all relatable. They all are about kids around my age. The mysteries I have read are mostly family secrets and someone lying which interests me because its not something like a murder it's something I might be able to relate to.

Ryan35 said...

I enjoy mystery books because they require the most thinking. You have to analyze the clues and it isfun to solve the mysteries. My favorite mystery book ihave read is The Da Vinci Code. It had a bitabout history and it was very suspenseful.

Avacado said...

Mystery books are my favorite type of books to read independently. The main reason I like mystery books is because they are very suspenseful and (usually) have a twist at the end. According to the New York Times, mystery books "Are a favorite to many groups of people because they give you something to think about and always keep you guessing." In addition, on the Horvath Report, students voted that mystery books were their favorite. The fact that in mystery books anything can happen and change in the story is what we like about them. Therefore, since mystery books are suspenseful and always keep you guessing, that's why I (and many others) favor mystery books over other (book) genres.

Avacado said...

@Ryan35,
I agree with you that mystery books give readers' something to think about. Also, that they give you clues to help you solve it. I know this because every mystery book I have ever read has given me clues to who has done the crime, and keep me guessing. According to the Town Library, mystery books always give you clues to who has committed the crime. Also, 4/5 kids that I asked at the library told me that mystery books always keep them guessing. Therefore, since mystery books always keep you guessing and give you clues, mystery books are my favorite genre of book.

I believe that I have only read one mystery book in my whole life. (i think that i have read more i just cont remember if i did). The one mystery book was THE WESTING GAME. I personally HATED that book. So I guess that it is not fair for me to say that i dont like mystery books because i have only read one. But i think that others would be better so i am kind of happy that we are reading mystery.

RyanT. said...

@ Ryan35

I agree. This is because out of the one mystery books that i have read, they did require a lot of thinking. Also it is fun to solve the mysteries. I personally have never read THE DA VINCI CODE but i have heard from many people that it is very good. I would enjoy reading more mysteries.

Imagine11 said...

I do enjoy reading mystery books because of their suspense. With a good mystery book, I can be able to read it for hours on end without even knowing it just because I want to find out what happens next or to solve the mystery. Another good thing about mysteries is that they flex your mind and make you think about all the clues to see if you can solve the crime or problem first. These are reasons why I like mystery books.

Imagine11 said...

@Avacado
I agree with your opinion because I also agree that mystery books make people think. You said that, "Mystery books give readers' something to think about. Also, that they give you clues to help you solve it." Another thing you said was that, "I know this because every mystery book I have ever read has given me clues to who has done the crime, and keep me guessing." Therefore, since I agree with both of your points, I agree that mystery books a great for using your mind to think and guess to solve the mystery.

I enjoy reading mystery books because they are suspenseful. For example, when a chapter is over it leaves me with suspense and it makes me want to read more and find out what is going to happen next. Mystery's make you think a lot about what will happen next. My favorite mystery book that I have read was Maze Runner. There was suspense at the end of each chapter. I was always reading more to see what happened next. Would they make it out of the maze before the gates closed. Would the creatures eat them. Mystery's are my favorite types of books.

Logan S. said...

I agree with you Imagine11. My favorite parts about mystery books is that they are suspenseful and that they make you think a lot. They make you use your brain more than any other type of book I have ever read. I cannot wait for mystery books.

yes, i enjoy mystery books. my favorite mystery book that i've read so far is Shakespere's secret. this is my favorite book because it was a moren day mystery, with modern day clues to solve the mystery. i know that this book is modern because Hero (main charcter) goes to school, rides the buss, and even goes to the police station a couple times. this proves that this book takes place in modern times because back when the people didn't have vehichles, i call that "the olden days".

abc123comewithme said...

@logan S.
i also agree with you; i like mystery books because they are suspencefull. i know this becaus in my book (sakespeare's secret) the main character is slow at finding the treasure. i know this is true because i read the book and the treasure is found at the end.

I persoally do not enjoy mysterys. This is because each story has the same type of plot. I know that each story has the same plot because the Scooby Do shows are suposed to be mysterys and in each show there is a villan, they try to figure out who it is, and the person that it is ends up in jail. My favorite mystery book is Midnight Magic. This is my favorite mystery book because that is pretty much the only mystery book I read. But, i did enjoy this book. I kind of liked it because the author discribed the scenes. I like this becasue it made me feel like i was htere with the characters.

I agree with you saying that you like realistic mysteries. Yet I have not read one before, i think I would like it. This is because I love realistic fiction so I would maybe like realistic mysteries. That is why I agree with your statement of you liking realistic mystery books/stories.

No, I do mot enjoy reading mystery books. I do not enjoy reading mystery books because they sometimes confuse me. For example, The R.L. Stine books Goosebumps make you flip around to all different pages and that confuses me. I just want to read like a regular book not to go from page 2 to 43 to 63 and back to 3.
this is annoying.

I honestly despise all mystery books no matter the author. I have always been the one to want the facts for example when I went to do the math Olympics I had always wanted my score and after each test I had asked for my score and the would quickly scored so I knew that I did well in stead of the anticipation of what was going to happen. Just like books I would like books where they give there opinion or what is supposed to happen and likely to happen but if there is a "twist" in the story I am fine with that because it was unexpected. But in a mystery there is a set amount of options of what is going to happen. So therefore the anticipation and suspension are something that don't tell things out straight so I dislike anything like it even books.

Man on the Moon said...

Ryan 35 I agree with you that is the one exception to what I had said earlier about how I had said that I hated mystery books and that I don't like suspension and having to anticipate things. The reasons why this is an exception is because it gives things straight forward but it ends up being twisted into a mystery. So therefore it did not start out as being a mystery to the police who were going to arrest robert lagdon

Lauren said...

Yes, I do enjoy reading mystery books because there always seems to be suspension, making me wanting to read more. When there a chapter leaving me with questions or suspense, I always want to read more. My favorite mystery book is Shakespeare's Secret because the book always leaves you with questions at the end of a chapter, which makes you wanting to read more. Therefore, this is my favorite book because there is never a time when you get bored.

Lauren said...

@Sweet! I agree with you. Even though I have only read a couple of the Nancy Drew books these books give you a chance to almost solve the mystery with Nancy. There isn't as much suspense, but the mystery trying to be solved, is what "fills in" for the suspense.

Brian C said...

I enjoy mystery books because they leave me in suspense and make me want to keep reading. Every chapter ends in suspense, and I have to read more. Not everyone likes mysteries though, so not everyone should read them.

My favorite mystery series is the 39 Clues. This is because they are very suspenseful, which makes me always want to read on. I know this because in the book, the characters are trying to find a formula that could make someone super strong and able to pretty much rule the world, and it gets intense. Therefore, since the 39 Clues are suspenseful, they are good mystery books.

Emerson34 said...

@Imagine11 I agree with you that I always want to find out what happens in a mystery book. I know this because the author puts twists and turns in every book, leaving suspense at the end of each chapter. Therefore, since authors "play around" with your mind, I always want to solve the mystery.

Marissa s. said...

I really enjoy mysteries. Mysteries have alot of suspense and they are full of cliff hangers. Mysteries never give the answer away until the end. One mystery I liked was House on the Gulf. They never gave the secret of their family away till the end. Mysteries are a great type of book.

Marissa S. said...

@lauren I agree with at the end of every chapter there is always a question and the reader wants to the answer so they keep reading. In House on the Gulf one chapter ended and I wanted to know what had happned to there dad. Therefore mystery books have alot of questions which hook the reader.

Grace S. said...

I really enjoy reading mystery books, and my favorite one would probably be Pretty Little Liars. The author, Sara Shepard, put so much suspense into the book that I would never want to put it down and I would always want to know what would happen next. Also, she made everything seem very realistic,from the characters to each and every chapter that was in the book. Therefore,Pretty Little Liars would probably be my favorite choice of mystery because of how engaged and interested the content kept me.

Grace S. said...

@Imagine11, I totally agree with why you enjoy reading mystery books. Like you said, they always leave you wanting to know what happens next and flex your mind, too. They really allow you to think about the crime itself and the suspects, even though it's just fiction. Most of them seem so realistic and just like you're solving a real murder mystery. I really liked what you said about mystery books and why you enjoy them.

I do like mystery books. I like them because they are like puzzles that you get to predict and might successfully solve. I like when you can catch the authors use of foreshadowing to predict what will happen next. This makes the story much more interesting and adds suspense when you think you know the upcoming event. In conclusion, Mysteries are one of my favorite types of books because they are suspenseful and fun to try and solve it.

marktex5025 said...

I like mystery books because when you're reading one, you never want to put it down. When I'm supposed to be sleeping, there I am in my bed continuing to read because currently the book is making me think, "Oh my god what's gonna happen? I just need to quickly find out", but right when you find out what happens, a new problem occurs. Therefore, mystery books are hard to put down, and are very thrilling and exciting.

Quoting "Avocado",
"The main reason I like mystery books is because they are very suspenseful and (usually) have a twist at the end." I too enjoy mystery books because of these reasons. Suspense is a great thing in books because it makes the reader want to keep reading and not want to put the book down. Also, at the end of a mystery there is an unusual, unexpected twist, this makes the book interesting because you would have never guessed the end. In conclusion, mystery novels are good reads because they have a lot of suspense leaving you guessing and wanting to keep on reading and have unexpected parts added to the plot making it interesting.

marktex5025 said...

@Marissa s:
I agree that mysteries never give the ending away until the end. Last year I read the book "The Dark Staircase" and the whole entire time, it kept you guessing if the Moloch's dad's dead body is. Finally, you find out in the last chapter that it was at the bottom of a secret staircase in the Moloch's house! Therefore, mysteries always save the answer until the end, and you just have to wait to finish the book to figure out what happens!

MRAjGE said...

I don't really enjoy reading mystery books because to me mystery books are like solving a crime. When I think of mystery books, I think of a detective solving a crime/problem. I don't really like the solving a mystery books. I like the suspenseful books better. Therefore when there is clues and a crime, to me, those books aren't as interesting as other books.

MRAjGE said...

@Grace S and @Jess M
I completely agree because some authors add things to make a book spectacular. I agree with @Jess M when she said Peg Kehret and Margaret Peterson Haddix added suspense to their books. With suspensefull author like them, it's hard not to read and find their books interesting. Therefore when you find yourself reading for hours untill you finish that book, then you know that the author really put dedication to make that book suspenseful and interesting.

TheOriginalFake said...

I love mystery books because they are well written pieces of literature. They really make you think and the author probably spent a lot of time thinking of good red herring, twists, and turns. I also like exciting writing and mystery books fall under that category.

I agree that mystery books are fun to read because you can try to solve them. In a mystery book there is always something that the characters must find out the exiting part of a mystery is trying to beat the character and solve the mystery first. When author's give clues or use foreshadowing it helps because then the mystery can be really complicated but still solveable because if you are a good reader you pick up the clues. For example, in And Then There Were None Agatha Christie gives clues which tell you who the murderer can't be by letting you hear characters' thoughts but not telling you what characters' thoughts you're reading. By doing this she helps those readers who know and understand the characters solve the mystery. This creates lots of suspense because you think you are getting close to solving the mystery but you still aren't sure and anything can happen. Therefore, since in a mystery you can predict the resolution and authors give clues to help, mysteries are fun because they can be solved.

Personally my favorite mystery book was the Nancy Drew series. I really like these because they are a real page turner. Each book had a really good plot and they always had new amazing and interesting adventure. They are really good and when I would read them I could never put them down.

whencupcakesattack said...

@maia, I agree with you. Whenever I read them they would be tough to figure out. I like a good challenge when I'm reading mystery books. Instead of reading the first page and being "oh i already know who did the crime" you had to wait until the end to figure it out because it is much more exciting that way.

I am nit a big mystery fan but I am ok with it but my favorite mystery book was the magic night. It is about a a royal family and how their daughter was seeing a ghost of some sort and didn't know what it was and so they needed to find out what it was. But I am not. 100% that that is the title of the book I will try to figure it out if you are interested.

I read the whole series an each book was read a minute after the other. I couldn't put them down. I think that the reason I loved these books so much was because they were so suspenseful. You never knew what could be lurking around the corner or creeping up behind you. Overall, these were some great books for pleasure reading.

I love reading mystery books because they are suspenseful, and I love trying to figure out what happens before the book tells me. In my favorite mystery book, Demon Glass, the way the authors tell the book it is almost impossible to figure out what will happen next. So, the reason I love mystery books is that they keep you wanting to read to find out what happens to the characters and you never know how many twists the author will put in the book that will keep you interested.

Mystery books are probably my favorite genre. i like ones that involve murder and a killer more than ones with a missing person or 'who took it'. i like these more because i have been recently been watching alot of horror movies and they are very interesting to me. when books only have a missing person i think ' yeah, okay, sure.' and then i get bored quickly.

My favorite mystery book is Double Identity by Margaret peterson Haddix because it was very suspenful. In the book it kept you guessing. The main girl, Bethany was dropped off with an aunt she didn't know she had and her parents didn't tell her why or where they were. They keep mentioning a girl named Elizabeth but she is never elaborated on. No one knows who she is and Bethany has no idea why everyone in her family knows who Elizabeth is and why she's not allowed to know. You keep guessing where her parents are, why she couldn't go with them, and who Elizabeth is.

Hayley M said...

@Jess M, I also think that most of Margaret Perterson Haddix's books are really good mysterious because they are relatable and suspensful. You are right, most of their books are about middle school/high school students which is easier to relate to because they are around are age. Also, it's easier to imagine a mystery about family secrets and lying because most people don't deal with murders at the age of 13, but ALL do experience secrets.
