The word that I would describe this lizard as is, well.. Lucky. If ti survived a trip from an island off the coast of Africa and all the way up to the United Kingdom. Thats a long trip in a cramped space for a long time. Not only that, but he survived a wash cycle. I understand if he is a water creature since Cape Verde is a group if islands, but with all the soap and chemicals im surprised it lived.
Like sethblog said I would also say that this little creature is very very lucky. The luggage might of been tight but only if someone is like a clothaholic and can't be away from all of their clothes and needs all of their clothes for a trip to The UK. The washer machine could have killed him and should have but he was a very lucky creature through the whole problem.
if i were to give this lizard a one word description it would be , strong. i say this because it said it survived a whole 6 hour plane ride in the luggage hull and then a 30 min washing it was determined to live and it did this is why i would call this lizard strong
i agree with sethblog because he was lucky because he went through a trip to africa and back and then a tourtures 30 minute washing from a washing machine and it should of died. this is why i agree with sethblog and that the lizard was lucky
I would describe this lizard as tough because it survived a plane ride in a luggage bag! Some people have trouble flying when they are sitting in chairs, but he survived a six-hour flight in a hot, humid, cramped space! Not only that, he also survived going through a washing machine. Once my brother accidentally left his phone in his pocket and it went through the washing machine. After that it was broken! So, for a small animal like that, to live through a cycle in a washing machine shows that it must be really tough.
@sethblog I disagree with you about the lizard being lucky because if anything I would count him as unlucky! I wouldn't call being stuck in a luggage bag for six hours and then being put into a washing machine lucky! I also don't think that it was luck that he lived, I think it was his will to survive and the fact that the lizard is probably used to warm temperatures.
I would say that this lizard is one tough reptile. This is because the lizard was able to survive a six hour trip in a suitcase while in the hold of a passenger jet. Also the lizard was able to survive a 30 minute wash cycle when dumped into a washer machine by a passenger who did not realize the lizard was in the suitcase. This could have killed the lizard because the chemicals in the detergent and the amount of water the lizard was dumped into. Therefore I am convinced that this lizard is one rugged reptile.
This small defenseless creature must have been lucky. This I think because the creature had probably fallen asleep on the way from Cape Verde to the United Kingdom which will lower your pulse and the necessity for air would have also gone down. So he could have survived. But I don't think the washer accident was luck because washers aren't filled to the brim so he could have gotten some air when it had stopped spinning and held its breath and eventually had enough to air to fall asleep and would wake up at the hands of the women. Some with this evidence I would think that it was mostly luck.
Devon S. I agree with you because I also agree that being locked in a small suit case, when it is hot and humid isn't lucky especially when that is followed by being put in a washer. But it was quite hard for this lizard to survive you have to have will lucky for anything. For example at my swim practice I had swim 4000 yards in 60 minutes. This for me even though being a well accomplished swimmer to this was nearly impossible so to this I had to have the will and for the fact I was a well accomplished swimmer. So I concur that it takes a lot to get over some of the most impossible challenges but all it takes is will and experience.
I think that "Larry" has to be a tough little critter! He would have to be if e made it through a plane trip and washing machine. In the story it said, "Lizard survives 3,000 miles in suitcase and 30 minutes in washing machine". I wouldn't be able to last for that long! This proves that "Larry the Lizard" has to be a tough little critter.
The word I would use to describe this totally awesome lizard is strong because of its endurance. I know this because when it was in the washing machine, it got tossed around a few times every second, which lasted 30 minutes! So for something that small to be in that kind of "torture" and be in pretty good condition, means he must have been pretty strong.
I think that this little creature surviving a large trip like that is very tough and will never give up. He survived a terrifying trip and life threatening washer accident this little lizard is very brave and strong. And sethblog, he is not very lucky, he is super unlucky and almost died. I think that he is strong not lucky
Like Devon S. said I also think that this little lizard is very strong and is not lucky. I could see what sethblog was saying by he was lucky for living, but what happened to him was not lucky one bit. Getting stuck in luggage six hours and then a trip to the UK, and finally ended up in a washer and was spinning in circles.
i think that the best word to describe this lizard is lucky. i think that this word would describe the lizard well because not a lot of lizards (i know) could survive a high altitude plane flight and a 30 minute scrub in a washing machine. this lizard is proof that miracles do happen. this was this lizard's lucky day!
@ Devon s. i agree with you. this lizard could be described as tough because it survived a long trip in a suitcase and a 30 minute dunk in the washing machine. The lizard also went through climate change which also makes him even tougher! however the lizard could have been lucky. just because he did i one DOES NOT mean he can do it again.
@ Devon s. i agree with you. this lizard could be described as tough because it survived a long trip in a suitcase and a 30 minute dunk in the washing machine. The lizard also went through climate change which also makes him even tougher! however the lizard could have been lucky. just because he did i one DOES NOT mean he can do it again.
@sethblog I TOTALLY agree with your opinion of him being lucky because how can something like that go without food for that long? A lizard like that one shouldn't have been able to live that long without food especially on a long plane ride. Which is why I think this lizard was lucky.
i think that this lizard is really lukcy because he survived a trip on an airplane. he also survived in a suitcase and on top of that he also survived a drier. this is pretty amazing becasue the lizard or Larry lived this whole time without food. this is impressive because food helps people live as well as animals.
i agree with chris g because this lizard is very strong. he survived all these things that could have killed him but he somehow survived and was ok after everything happened to this lizard. he lived through a 6 hour airplane trip and also a 30 minute washing machine and drier.
I think that this is one fortunate lizzared.I think this because in the text it travels all the way from africa to the U.K. in a suit case with no food.Then it went through a washer mashine filled with chemicals, and its spinning in circles(still hasn't had any thing to eat).In conclusion this lizzered is vary fortunate because it traveled a long distance,with no food, and went through a wash cycle.
I would describe this lizard as strong. It definitely has a lot of strength because it survived for 6 hours in a suitcase and in a washing machine(that was on) for half an hour. This shows my point because most creatures like Larry would have died because of the lack of air in the suitcase and might have gotten poisoned from the chemicals in the washing machine.
@Devon S. I think that you are right that the lizard was definitely unlucky because it was trapped in a suitcase for 6 hours. Then it was stuck in the washing machine for half an hour. But I think that you are missing the point how it was lucky. It was lucky because it was able to survive though all of that. Most reptiles like Larry would probably die from going though that. Larry is lucky because he was able to survive that.
I think one word I would use to describe the lizard, is to use perseverance. Even through all of the obstacles he went through he still kept trying to stay alive. " I thought he was dead and I'm sure he nearly was- I have absolutely no idea how he was still alive." The lady even thought he was dead but he hung in there. Larry had to travel 3,000 miles in a suitcase, and educe the roar of a washing machine. Going through all of these tough experiences shows me how the little lizard has a lot of perseverance.
I also think that the lizard is very strong, and strong willed. Most lizards like larry would have been killed in the suitcase, from trauma and fear. Larry somehow must have kept himself calm so that he would not kill himself from stress. " She covered it with a saucepan but was surprised and delighted when it recovered from its ordeal. " Larry was able to recover form the ordeal showing that he has a strong mind and body. With out these two character traits larry would have been dead the minute he was trapped in the suitcase.
I think that the lizard was very lucky. Any normal lizard stuffed into a suitcase for 6 hours plus, then put into a wash machine for 30 minutes would have died 10 minutes into the washing. This may have been a type of water lizard but I surprised it made it through with all the soap, chemicals, and dirty stuff from all the laundry.
I think that this lizard is stronge and not willing to give up. In the story it said that the lizard travel 3,000 miles in a suitcase and 30 monutes in the washing machine and survived. He didn't give up on himself. He fought through what he went through and now is safe and sound at a wildlife park.
Janelle said.... "I think that this is one fortunate lizared." I agree with him because he went though a washer and a suitcase. This lizard when threw lot and had to be strong and never gave up.
I would describe this lizzard as determind. I think this because every animal has a specific habitat and if it lives in africa than i presume that it needs hot or warm weather, but while on a plane with 50 to 100 people then i am sure that it was not the right habitat for a lizzard of this sort. I also think this because when the lizzard was put in the wash i am sure that it would have been quite difficult to stay alive since there was so much water. This lizzard definatly had to fight to stay alive, he was determind.
@sethblog i totally agree with you when you said that a this lizzard was lucky. Because on all the things that had happened to this lizzard he would have been dead by now if luck had not helped him. A long flight and a long wash must have been pretty difficult to stay alive during. This poor little lizzard is deffinatly a lucky one!!!!!!!!
I think this lizard is tough. I think this because it survived a 3,000 mile trip, in just a suitcase! It even survived 30 minutes in a washing machine! Therefore, since the lizard survived through so many challenges, it must be tough.
@ Emma I agree with you that this lizard is strong and determined. He fought through 3,000 miles in a suitcase and 30 minutes in a washer machine. He never gave up on himself and is now safe. Therefore his strength led to being determined.
The word I would use to describe this lizard is unique. Not many other lizards, or any other living creatures, have ever had the experience of living in a freezing suitcase for 6 hours. Most lizards don't have the ability to survive like that. AND, even if a lizard HAS lived in a freezing suitcase for hours, which is EXTREMELY unlikely, Larry also was tumbled around in a washing machine for half an hour. He is probably the only lizard to have ever received this different kind of bath, making him very unique. Also, Larry has a very unique sense of curiosity, if he crawled into a suitcase. Even if he didn't know what that would lead to, most lizards would just ignore a suitcase. Larry decided to hop in it, and ride in it, and eventually become famous for the unbelievable events that come after it. Because so few lizards have ever been in luggage or in a washing machine (and survived) Larry is a VERY unique lizard.
I agree with sethblog, that Larry is very lucky. It is a miracle that any living creature could survive the cramped and freezing cold space of the suitcase, and it is even more amazing that he survived 30 minutes of the washing machine. Most would have died, but Larry was obviously a very lucky lizard, because he survived when most others would have died.
I would say that this lizard is tough. It survived 3,000 miles in a suitcase on an airplane. Also, it survived 30 minutes in a washing machine. Larry had to stay in the heat afterwards to keep from dying. That's why Larry is hardy and tough.
@Devon S I agree with you because you said the lizard is tough. The lizard was stuck in the suitcase for six hours. Also, Larry was in the washing machine for 30 minutes. That's why Larry is a tough reptile.
The word I would use to describe this lizard is lucky. I chose this word because it is evident in the article. Firstly it says that the lizard had to travel 3,000 miles in a freezing suitcase. And as I recall, lizards need heat to live. Not only did he "Cheat Death" on the plane, but he also somehow survived in the chaos of the washer! This lizard is extremely lucky, because I'm pretty sure that the odds of a lizard surviving in those conditions for that long isn't very good.
I would describe this lizard as lucky because it was able to survive a 3'000 mile trip in a suit case and survive. Also, when the plane mishap was finished it had to go through a washing machine with chemicals and soap. Not many people would be able to survive a flight in the bitter cold of a cargo hold and then to have to handle that, yet alone a rare six inch lizard. This is why I think this lizard was one lucky son of a gun.
@ GHOST I agree with you that the best word to describe the lizard would be LUCKY because it shows it in the article like you said. I fell that any thing that can go through that and survive would have to be considered as lucky. This is why I agree with you.
A word I would use to describe this lizard is resiliant because he was able to survive under harsh conditions. The first reason the lizard, Larry, is resiliant is because he survived a 3,000 mile six hour flight from Cape Verde to the UK. This can be tough because lizards are meant to live outside in the sun not in a dark, craped, suitcase with a small supply of oxygen. After this it survived a full cycle in the washing machine. It would be spun around and whacked by clothing and most likely drown by soapy water but somehow it survived. My science teacher for seventh grade had a pet that went into the washing machine and that killed it but not Larry. Therefore, because Larry survived a six hour trip in a suitcase without light or lots of oxygen as well as a full cycle in a washing machine I would describe him as resiliant.
@sethblog I agree with you that a good word to describe Larry is lucky. This is becasue he survived a 3,0000 mile, six hour trip in a suitcase on a passenger airplane. This could be very dangerous and many animals could have died but somehow Laryy survived. Also, he then survived a full delicate thirty minute delicate cycle. during this time he would have been whached around by clothing and the washing machine would be flooded with soapy water. Larry may easily have drown but luckily he survived. He was again luchy becasue he was taken in by Tropiquaria wildlife park in Williton, Somerset where he will be free. In conclusion, becasue Laryy the lizard survived not only a six hour trip in a suitcase, but also a thirty minute washing machine cycle, and was unharmed as well as taken into a wildlife park, I agree that a good word to describe him is lucky.
@Anirbas I agree with you I think that a lizard that is as lucky or is as great as a survivalist as Bear Grylls is definitely unique. Not many lizards can go through what the 6in. lizard did. First he survived a bitter cold 3000mi plane flight in a suitcase, then he survived a trip through the washing machine,but he remains alive. Not you average lizard! He is a great example of unique
The word that I would use for this little lizard is survivor. I would use the word survivor because I believe that even though It was only in the suitcase for a little while it was able to survive. This little lizard was through a lot. I know this because in the story it said that he was carried in a suitcase, he went through a washing machine, and then had to return to the wildlife park. This is important to know that he has been through a lot because he needs to know how he ended up at the wildlife park. He has survived!1!! Can you imagine what it would be like to survive a washing machine? Well if you think about it how can a little lizard survive a spinning washing machine with water? You have to admit he is a real survivor.
@ ghost I agree with you Larry is lucky. I think that anyone who can survive the washing machine is lucky. This is because no one can survive that even with water inside. This is very important because Larry is one fantastic lizard.
I agree with Trevor that this lizard is tough. I agree with him because this lizard went through obstacles that would kill most lizards. for example the lizard went on a plane ride that traveled 3000 miles in a woman's luggage. Also this lizard was put in a washer machine and survived a 30 minute spin cycle. These obstacles seam dangerous and probably should of killed the lizard but it survived. That is what made him tough.
I would say that the lizard is not only tough but sneaky. The reason i say he is tough is because he was in a suitcase for a 3,000 mile airplane flight and survived a full cycle in the washer. Also i think he is sneaky because the guy said he only saw one lizard on his whole trip. Also he must of got in there when he was packing cause it would be hard to get inside while he was walking. I say he his tough and sneaky because not only did he do all these things but he was able to get to there home with out the noticing.
I agree with Smores because he was lucky. He survived being in a suitcase (He might of ran out of air or something, I don't Know), a ride in a plane, and a full cycle in the wash and the dryer. So this Lizard is very lucky to have survived cause most animals would have died
I would describe this lizard as indestructible because it survived many death causing events. For example, Larry (the lizard) endured a three thousand mile trip in a luggage in a freezing cold luggage holder. He also survived the unthinkable: thirty minutes in a washing machine. Some would call these event lucky or a miracle but I think it was because Larry is indestructible!
@Anyone who said the lizard is lucky I disagree because the lizard wasn't just lucky. If Larry was able to survive the plane ride and washing machine cycle, I believe it wasn't from luck. You are lucky if you win bingo but if you survive a near death experience that would be more of faith not luck. Everything is done for a reason not just from luck. Therefore, Larry had a lot more faith than luck to survive the things he did.
I would describe this lizard as strong because he survived a 3,000 miles plane ride in a packed suitcase. Also he was put into a 30 minute washing cycle, which has chemicals that could kill him. Larry the lizard could have drowned in the full water washing machine or been suffocated in a stuffed suitcase. Therefore this lizard is strong, since he survived 2 deadly "accidents."
@sethblog, I disagree with you because Larry isn't that lucky since he was taken from his natural habitat. Also being stuck in a suit case for 6 hours and in a full wash cycle isn't "lucky." I would call it faith and not luck on why Larry survived.
One word that I would describe the lizard, Larry would be lucky. I think that this lizard is lucky because usually somthing living that is in a small area with limited air passes away but this lizard survived. Also, this lizard went through an entire 30 minute laundry. This would include the water and thick bubbles and the rough tossing and turing. This lizard is reallly luckey that he did not suficate in the suitcase and the laundry machine. That is why I think that this lizard, Larry is a very lucky lizard.
The words I would use to describe the lizard is durable and tough. I would use the word durable because this lizard manged to get through a 3000 mile flight packed away in a suitcase for 6 hours, and a thirty minute wash cycle, and live! Packed in a suitcase on a plane is not an environmental for a lizard and a wet soapy, chemically, filled wash machine is no place for a lizard either. It would have been amazing to survive just one of these events, but the small 6 inch long lizard lived through both. So not only was he very durable he must to have been very tough to. He went days without food and lived very uncomfortably. This all makes the lizard durable and tough.
@Ghost I agree with you how you said that this lizard is very lucky. I agree with you becasue, like you said, the lizard had to survive a 3000 mile plane ride in a suitcase. That is luck becasue I am pretty sure that in the suitcase there is not much air for the lizard to breathe. Next, the lizard had to go in a washing machine for 30 nminutes with bubbles and water. I am pretty sure with bubbles as thich as that, the lizard would suficate. That is why I agree with you when you said that the lizard is lucky.
I disagree with people that said the lizard was lucky. I understand how people could see it as lucky from being able to survive a 6 hour flight in a suitcase and a wash cycle, but I don't think the lizard was lucky to end-up in that situation. He had to have been strong to withstand the trip on the plane and through the wash machine, more so strong than lucky. Although he was somewhat lucky to survive I don't think that is a good word to describe him.
I think that a word to describe this lizard is "hardy". Dictionary.com defines hardy as,"capable of enduring fatigue, hardship, exposure, etc.; sturdy; strong". In the article about this certain lizard on guardian.com, the lizard traveled 3,000 miles by plane and car, and survived a half hour in a washing machine. Therefore, because the lizard endured several hours in a suitcase, and 30 minutes in a washing machine, i917320t fully deserves the title of "hardy".
I think Larry the lizard was brave. Haveing survied a 3000 mile plane ride, and 30 minutes in the washer machine, he must be pretty brave to go through all that. Just surving the plane ride is pretty impersive. The amount of bravey in that lizard is very much swelled.
@ u don't know me I agree with you that larry the lizard is hardy, and can endure alot of punishment basicly. He also must have been pretty brave to endure all those hardships.
@Lauren I disagree with you when you say that faith was why Larry the Lizard survived his adventures in one peice. The definition of faith by Dictionary.com is,"confidence or trust in a person or thing". However, nobody had any faith, any knowledge, of the lizard's existence in that suitcase. Therefore, because nobody had confidence or trust in the lizard to make it through it's adventure, faith was not what kept the lizard alive.
I would describe this lizard as determined and tough because he survived a good deal of things that any average lizard would not have lasted through. For example, he lived through a six-hour plane flight in a dark suitcase with no food and immeditatly thereafter got thrown into a 30 minute spin cycle with water and soap which probably would have been poision to a lizard if the clothes hadn't crushed him. He didn't let himself die, though, which shows that he was both physically and emotionally strong. This was why the little lizard was tough and determined.
The character trait I would use to describe the lizard is lucky. The lizard made the mistake of going into the suitcase and after that events took a turn in his favor. He couldn't do anything to help save himself so he isn't persistent, so the only trait that would describe his ordeal is lucky.
(sorry, p is Pandanut12)
@Matt W. I disagree because he might have been able to save himself in some way and we just couldn't see it. It is possible that he went to sleep in the suitcase to preserve energy and went in a pants or shirt pocket in the washer to protect himself. All of these things would help keep him alive and would all have been of his own accord, which means that he could have done something to save himself.
@Ali M. I don't think that the lizard had perseverance, I believe that he was lucky.He didn't try really hard to stay alive, he just found a way to be extremely lucky, like crawl into a shirt, he didn't ave control of the outcome.
I would describe this lizard as strong. I think that strong would be a very good word for Larry the lizard, because he had stayed in one suitcase for over 6 hours, this could have easily caused suffocation. The poor little lizard not only had to suffer in the suitcase, but also had to be put through a washing machine. This shows that lizard is very strong because he went through many troubles to finally be safe and alive.
@Matt W. I agree that the lizard was very strong. He managed to be put in a suitcase and also a washing machine and still come out alive. I also agree that Larry the lizard made the mistake of going in the suitcase, but he did "luckily" come out. This is why I also agree that Larry the lizard is very lucky.
I would call Larry the lizard determinded. This is because Larry was determinded to stay alive while his trip in the suitcase. Also Larry didn't give up on his live even after the 3,000 mile journey in the suitcase when he was in the washing machine for half an hour. Larry surviving a 3,000 mile trip ina suitcase and a wild half an hour ride in the washing machine shows that Larry was determinded to stay alive.
@Kate O. I agree with you Larry the lizard is strong. This is because Larry survived 6 and a half hours trapped in a suitcase/washing machine. This is strong because he could have died easily but he was strong and didn't. Larry is strong because he survived in a suitcase/washing machine.
I would describe this lizard as strong. I didn't even have to read the article to know this. This is because the title is "Lizard Survives 3,000 Miles in Suitcase and 30 Minutes in Washing Machine". For any living thing to do that, it has to be strong. For example, if the lizard was very weak and had very few or no muscles, then it would have not survived. This is why I think the lizard is strong.
@Unknown 7 I agree with you because for this lizard to survive a plane ride that long and sit in a running washing machine for 30 minutes, it has to be strong.
I agree with you Devon, I would describe this lizard as tough. I say it's tough because it survived a plane ride for a 6 hour ride in a luggage bag on an airplane. And it survived a washing machine! It's pretty amazing how your brother's cell phone died in the washer machine, but a living animal can survive it. That's one tough lizard to survive a wash and a plane ride.
I would describe this lizard as strong. This is because it survived a 3,000 mile trip and a whole 30 minute washing machine cycle. I have a lizard at my house and it cant even stand a small bath for 10 minutes. This lizard must have been tough because if it wasnt then it would've died during the trip. Even if it managed to survive the trip, the washing machine should've deffinately killed it. Although both of those things did not kill the lizard. Therefore the lizard must have been strong.
I agree. This is because the lizar did survive 3,000 miles in a freezing suitcase. From my experiences with lizards, They need heat to live. And surviveing the plane rid must have been easy for him because after that he had to take the washer! Basically no lizard could survuve all that. The odds would be about 1,000,000 to 1. With all odds against hem, this lizard must have had some pretty good luck.
I think that the Larry is a tough lizard I think that because Larry stayed alive through a 3,000 mile flight without food or water. He also survived through 30 minutes in a washing machine. I also think that Larry is tougher than most lizards because my brother brother had a lizard and when he accidentally left it with ought water for a couple of hours and he died. Larry was put through worse and still lived.
@Devon S. I agree with you. I also think that he was unlucky. I think that because he had to go through 3,000 miles in a suitcase. And I also think that surviving isn't luck but just that he was determined and tough.
I would describe this lizard as enduring. This lizard shows just how strong one can be. First of all, Larry the lizard had lived through a 3,000 mile journey from his home in around Africa, and went to much colder temeratures, and climate than used to. And then after this long, grueling journey Larry went through the washing machine! I have never heard of an animal live after going through a washing machine. These examples make that one word I would use to desctibe Larry would be Enduring. After all Enduring does mean lasting. And to me this Lizard screams lasting, what other word would be better to describe something going through this dangerous journey, and going through a washing machine and then living?
I would describe Larry to be a strong lizard because he lasted all that time without the proper care. He was in a suitcase for 6 hours then in a washing machine for 30 minutes, and still survived. He left the enviroment that he was raised in and the air that he would need to survive, but somehow he pulled it through as if he knew that she would find him.
@Kate O I agree with you that the lizard is strong because he could have easily sufficated from being in a crammed suicase and whirled around in a washing machine. The little lizard would almost stop at nothing at remembering to breath.
@ LittleMonster0128, Although I agree with you on the fact of this Lizard being strong, I am confussed on your reasoning. You had said that If it was weak annd had few musceles it wouldn't have survibed. But what makes you think that lizards have alot of musceles? I believe the lizard was storng menatally, I don't believe that his physical health had alot to do with it. Along his journey I don't see how his musceles had anything to doi with his success.
i would say that this lizard is tough. i would say that because he survived a bumy 6 hour ride on an airplane, and a spinning cycle in a washing machine.
I would say that this lizard is tough because he stayed alive under very hard circumstances. First, he entered a suitcase, which took him 6 long hours to finally get out of. Then, he was put into an active washing machine, where soap got in his eyes, and where he kept spinning around and around! Therefore, he must be one tough lizard if he can survive very dangerous things - especially for an animal as small as him!
@Kibble: I agree that Larry is enduring because of what he went through. He left his nature, was stuck in a suitcase for 6 hours, and went into an at-work washing machine! Therefore,he is defenetily enduring if he can conchur those things.
I would describe the lizard as curious. I would describe the lizard as "curious" because he ventured into the suitcase not knowing where it led to and he continued to stay in there while the woman from the article; Sue packed her belongings into a suitcase that was to be brought all the way back home. For example, "is thought to have clambered into Sue Banwell-Moore's suitcase as she packed following a two-week holiday on the islands off the west coast of Africa." This shows that he climbed right into her suitcase, and I believe it was out of curiosity.
I agree with RyanT. when he states,"I would describe this lizard as strong. This is because it survived a 3,000 mile trip and a whole 30 minute washing machine cycle." I agree with this statement because the lizard had to be tough to withstand the extreme temperatures of being stuffed in a suitcase in the bottom of the plane and a tumble through the washing machine. For example according to the article, "it is a miraculous survival." This shows how tough the lizard must have been during his ambitious journey.
I think that Larry is one brave lizard.I think this because surived a six hour flight in a suitcase.Also, Larry was in a pile of dirty laundry for 30 min. Now that might not seem such a long time but for Larry it was. Larry stayed strong and dertmined and of course BRAVE. This shows that even the smallest reptiles can be brave.
@ Devon S. I agree with you on "Some people have trouble flying when they are sitting in chairs, but he survived a six-hour flight in a hot, humid, cramped space!". This little creature is really brave and STRONG!!!!! I also agree with the phone part. If I had a nickle everytime I heard someone say phone was broken by a washing machine.....I would be RICH!!!! SO many phone companies are like are phone is industructable but really it's not . But Larry is really storng through all of this.
I would describe this lizard to be mighty strong because he survived a lot of tough things. I couldn’t imagine a small lizard being alive after 3,000 miles in a suitcase and 30 minutes in a washing machine. I would describe this lizard to be strong because to be strong means mentally powerful or vigorous. I think that exactly describes the lizard because he never gave up and stayed alive.
I agree with you @marktex5025 because I also think this was a very tough lizard because he survived those hard circumstances. I won’t think it is impossible to stay alive in those challenges. It was probably really hard to survive, but he never gave up. Therefore I agree with you that he is a very tough lizard.
I think that I would use the word hardy to describe this poor lizard. He survived 30,000 miles, up in an airplane, in a suitcase full of clothing. I couldn't even believe that, let alone going through a wash cycle and being underwater in chemicals for half an hour. I think that "Hardy" fits this lizard because he must be very patient and strong to be able to withstand such elevation, temperature, and climate. That is why I think the word for this little guy is definitely "hardy".
I think that this lizard is actually unlucky. Everybody is saying that the lizard is lucky but to me I think that the lizard is very unlucky. The lizard was picked up from his home and put into the washing machine. That to me doesn't seem too lucky. If some one was kidnapped and than almost drowned you wouldn't call them lucky. The lizard was probably traumatized and I don't condsidered that lucky.
@sethblog I have to disagree with you about the lizard being lucky. Would you consider yourself lucky if you got pulled from your home stuffed in a suitcase and then put into the washing machine. I honestly think despite what everybody is saying the lizard is not lucky. It actually is very unlucky compared to his other little lizard friends who are just chill in in their African homes. So therefore since the lizard had dot endure all those horrible things I think he was lucky.
I feel like the lizard is traumatized. This poor little thing was stuck in a suitcase for a long time, and then got rinsed in a washing machine! I know I would feel a bit awkward if I got put in the washing machine, or if i was a little lizard and got stuffed in a suitcase. That definitely would scar me, let alone a little lizard! Therefore, I feel like the lizard is very traumatized by what happened to him.
@ Isabelle G., I have to disagree with you when you say the lizard is unlucky. I think it's pretty amazing a creature like that survived everything he went through. hat doesn't happen everyday, so based on the events he faced, he was pretty lucky. But, he could be unlucky because of the scars he got from his experience. This little thing must be terrified of everything that goes up or spins around, or even something with water! Being afraid of many things is bad, and in that case the lizard is unlucky. But, based on the problems the lizard faced and survived through them, I'd say he's quite the lucky one.
A word that would be surprising. I think this because know one probably knew that the poor lizard was in the suit case or in the washing machine. If i was a lizard I would be scared, but I would try to get out as fast and as noticeable as I could. I would try to do this because if my owner saw me he/she would know that I was in the suit case to begin with.
@AVgleek17 I have to disagree with you when you say it was traumatizing. I believe this because it wasn't like the lizard was in a bag filled with knives it was probably filled with clothes and maybe travel needs. Bottom thing is it wasn't killed.
I would think of this lizard as strong. I would think of thiis lizard as strong because it is verry hot at points and very cold at points in a washing mahchine. It also gets extremely wet. I am suprised it did not drown, over heat, or get hypothermia. How weird is thst I also think this because It had nothing to eat or drink this whole time. must be pretty strong hearted to do all of that.
Gabby P said... I would have to disagree with you because I hink that you have totally gone off topic with this. It was not that it couldnt get out im sure it could if it really wanted to. it was about how strong and brave this lizard was to keep going without dieing.
I think that the lizard is lucky because it could have died a number of times. Even the person thought that he was dead. He had to go through a very long distance travel and go through a washing machine. Also he was also a small animal that can be killed easily anyway not to mention everything that happened to him. This is pure luck that he was not killed.
After reading this article, one trait that describes the lizard would be strong. Who would expect that such a little lizard could go through a washing machine for 30 minutes and a suitcase for 3,000 miles and be perfectly fine after it all happened? This lizard definitely stayed strong and through these rough experiences and must have not been that afraid. I mean, think about it. If he really was that afraid, he probably wouldn't even be alive after what he had to go through. This is why I think that strong is a good trait to describe the lizard in the article.
@Devon S., I absolutely agree with why you said that this article showed that the lizard was tough. What Larry had survived through took some bravery and courage, for sure. I also liked how you connected your opinion to how your brother left his phone in his pants pocket, and it then went through the wash and came out broken. I think that was a good example or way of showing that it is hard for something so small do go through the trauma like the lizard did and succeed to make it out. However, Larry somehow managed to get out alive, because he was nothing but strong, determined, and tough.
I believe that this little lizard is very strong. Not strong as in he is able to life heavy objects, but that he was able to go so far away from his home and then almost be drowned in the wash! In the story it says "A hardy lizard that stowed away in a tourist's suitcase survived a 3,000-mile flight from Cape Verde to the UK – and then endured a full cycle in a washing machine." After this great ordeal, the lizard still survived! Therefore, since the lizard traveled far from his home, and almost drowned when he had reached his destination, I believe that he is strong.
One word would use to describe this lizard is stong and lucky because he made it so far without food and water and still survived. Also he is smaller so it would be easier for him to die and suffacate. He is lucky to be alive and able to return to the wilderness. Also this lizard went through a washing machine which has a very strong force. He could have easily drowned and die but he was strong enough and lucky enough to survive.
I agree with candy S. because i feel that the lizard was also strong mentally because he traveled so far from his home and his habitat with nothing. He managed to live through several days in a suitcase and go through a washing machine. You have to be very mentally talented to do that/
I would say this is a miracle. The reason I said it was a miracle is because the article said that the lizard was in the hot cramped suitcase on a plane ride for 3,000 miles then went into a washing machine but lived and even one mile for a lizard in a suitcase would be a stretch let alone 3,000 then going into a washing machine.
I would describe this lizard as strong. Larry endured a 3,000 mile ride in a suitcase and a 30 minute washing in a washing machine and was still alive. He was very strong to stay alive throughout those many hours on a plane in a suitcase and the full cycle in a washing machine. So, I would say that Larry was very strong, physically and mentally because he stayed alive in the conditions that he was in, first a suitcase for six hours and then a washing machine for half an hour more.
@Isabelle G, I agree with you because like you said, if someone was picked up out of their home, thrown into a suitcase for 3,000 miles and six hours and then put into a full cycle in a washing machine, I would not describe them as lucky. They would probably be very very unlucky and traumatized for going through that. So, I agree with you because the lizard was not lucky to be put in a suitcase and a washing machine and have almost dies, he was very unlucky.
I would call this lizard hardy. This is my word of choice because hardy means "capable of enduring fatigue, hardship, exposure" or sturdy and strong. The lizard was hardy because he survived 3,000mile flight and then endured 30 minutes in the washing machine. They are both hardships. this proves he is hardy.
@chocoholicdancer13 I agree withyou that Larry is strong. He must be strong to survive a six hour flight in confined space and then a 30 minute washing machine cycle with little air.
The character trait I would use would be lucky. It would be lucky because it survived 6 hours in a cold luggage unit (and most lizards are cold-blooded) and half an hour in a washing machine (if anyone's seen Stuart Little they can relate).
@sethblog I agree with you I would also call this lizard lucky because of the cold flight off the coast of Africa to the U.K. and the chemical/soapy water of the washing machine would make you think that you're lucky.
I think that the lizard is hardy and brave. The reason I think that the reason is hardy because he was able to survive a 3,000 mile flight in a suitcase. Many things could have gone wrong like loss of air, hunger, fright of being trapped, etc. He was also very brave because he was able to brave being trapped, and then be was able to endure being trapped in a spin cycle! I would have died if that was me. Therefore, since the lizard was not only able to survive being trapped in a suitcase, but a spin cycle, he is definetly brave and hardy.
@Anirbas, I agree with you that the lizard has a trait for being lucky. I know the lizard is lucky because I do not know anyone that could survive being trapped in a suitcase for hours. An average lizard would have overheated or lost to much air and died. In addition, I am surprised he did not die in the rinse cycle in the washing machine. He has to be pretty lucky to come out unscratched, AND not have drowned. Therefore, since he survived being trapped in a suitcase and being in a rinse cycle, he is a very lucky lizard.
I would describe this lizard as, lucky. He traveled through a trip from Africa to the U.K. and also endured a full cycle in a washing machine. I mean I understand with the water but the spinning and turning, soap, chemicals. Therefore, I would describe this lizard as lucky becauseHe traveled through a trip from Africa to the U.K. and also endured a full cycle in a washing machine. Larry the Lucky Lizard.
@IsabellaG I disagree with you because I say survicing that vicious and vast trip and a full cycle of a washer then you would call youself lucky right? It matters about the ending, everything has a difficulty and ends well. And here, he lived. You would be happy to live a 3,000 mile flight and a washing machine when you are that small right? Therefore, I disagree with you because I would consider myself lucky if all that happened to me and I still am breathing and my heart was still beating.
I would consider Larry to be very strong and tough. He survived very hard conditions, like being stuck in a cramped, humid, hot space for six hours but still lived! It must have been hard for the critter because of how small he was. Also the whole washing machine fiasco must have been very hard. He could have been suffocated, drowned, crushed, anything like that, yet he survived. I do understand that this lizard is from a place were the temperature is warm, so he could have been used to it, but all the other factors are pretty cruel. Over all, Larry is one tough critter.
@chocoholicdancer13 I agree with you. I also believe this lizard is tough and strong. He survived the hardest conditions, yet made it through them all. He had to endure all these obstacles and turns out, he still lived. After being stuck in luggage for six hours I would suspect Larry to be dead by then, but not only surviving through that, he also made it through a 30 minute washing cycle. As amazing as it sounds, this little lizard is pretty tough and strong for being so small.
@abc123comewithme I agree with you because I also think that the lizard was very lucky. Any lizard that had to go on an airplane for 6+ hours, go into a washing machine for 30 minutes would die during the airplane flight. The lizard could have died but it was extremely lucky and survived.
Wow i hate to be that lizard 3000 thousand miles locked up in a suit case what kind of owner does that to their lizard. Who would put a lizard in a washer machine it would suck to be that lizard don't you agree if i were that lizard i would hate my owner. Thi sounds like an unfair life to me if i were bigger i would do that to my owner.
This little lizard has more guts than a lizard should have. I traveled 3000 miles and survived in a washer machine. I couldn't even do that. This lizard must be very warn out and brave. He will always know now that if he sees a suit case then he will not climb into it. He will stay into his cage. This lizard must have been very curious to wander into a brief case like that.There might have been food in there that he was attracted to. This lizard is the most beaten up lizard now that it has been through that but hopefully it will recover.
I agree with you chris g because I also thought that this lizard was very, very strong. 3000 miles (6 hrs) is a long way to go for a small lizard like that. He also must have been strong through the washer machine because all of that tossing and turning and fall on your body. That would hurt for such a small creature. This lizard must have been scared also being out of his cage and in the dark for that long.
i would describe this lizard as hardy or tough. i would because to survive such harsh treatment is almost unthinkable and to be hardy is to be strong which is the word i would use to describe someone or thing who could bare similar conditions.
I would describe this lizard as very strong because for such a small reptile, he certainly survived through some hash situations. In the article it said that, "The chinonia lizard that survived six hours in a freezing luggage hold and 30 minutes in a washing machine." Six hours in a freezing luggage bag with no food must be hard for a tiny lizard, seeing as they're cold blooded. Also, being stuck in a washing machine for half an hour would also be horrible for any animal because of how it would bang it around and hurt him. Therefore, this shows that the lizard, Larry, is very strong because of what he went through.
@Trevor I agree with your comment because you said that you would describe the lizard as a tough reptile. You said that, "This is because the lizard was able to survive a six hour trip in a suitcase while in the hold of a passenger jet." You also said that,"Also the lizard was able to survive a 30 minute wash cycle when dumped into a washer machine by a passenger who did not realize the lizard was in the suitcase. This could have killed the lizard because the chemicals in the detergent and the amount of water the lizard was dumped into." Therefore, since I also stated these two things about how the lizard is strong, I agree with your opinion.
I would describe the lizard as amazing. I would describe him as amazing because he survived a 6-hour flight and a washing machine cycle. Throughout all of this he was probably very very scared but overcame this and miraculously survived this ordeal.
@Imagine11 I agree with you because he is very strong and went through some rough times. A six hour flight and a washing machine cycle cannot be good for a very very little lizard like Larry.
This is a miracle. This is because Lizards usally cannot survive without much oxygen or stuck s[inning under water. Their lungs need fresh air to function and give their blood oxygen to live. That is why I think that this lizard was very lucky, and this was a miracle.
@ alcatrazjail I agree with you that it was a miracle. This was a miracle because a lizard's little body cannot survive long without air. It was a miracle that the lizard survived this.
If I were to describe the lizard, I would say that he is super lucky, and a little adventurous. I think this because the lizard ventured into clothes that ended up in luggage, and the clothes ended up in a washing machine!
I think this lizard is strong. I think it is strong because it survived hundreds of miles in a suit case with out food or water. Also he went into the washer.
I think one word would be determined. That little lizard survived more than any human could. If you or i tried to hide in the cargo hold, then we would die from the lack of air. So this tiny lizard, with smaller lungs, and a smaller body all over, survived more than any of us could. This proves that it was determined to hang on and make it through a very tough experience.

@sethblog
I disagree with you about the lizard being lucky because if anything I would count him as unlucky!
So I concur that it takes a lot to get over some of the most impossible challenges but all it takes is will and experience.
what no one agrees with me
I think that "Larry" has to be a tough little critter!
Like Devon S. said
I also think that this little lizard is very strong and is not lucky.
@sethblog
I TOTALLY agree with your opinion of him being lucky because how can something like that go without food for that long?
@Devon S.
@Devon S
I agree with you because you said the lizard is tough.
Lucky Lizard
I would describe this lizard as lucky because it was able to survive a 3'000 mile trip in a suit case and survive. Also, when the plane mishap was finished it had to go through a washing machine with chemicals and soap. Not many people would be able to survive a flight in the bitter cold of a cargo hold and then to have to handle that, yet alone a rare six inch lizard. This is why I think this lizard was one lucky son of a gun.
hello
@ GHOST
I agree with you that the best word to describe the lizard would be LUCKY because it shows it in the article like you said.
@sethblog
I agree with you that a good word to describe Larry is lucky.
@Anyone who said the lizard is lucky
I disagree because the lizard wasn't just lucky.
@Ghost
I agree with you how you said that this lizard is very lucky.
@Lauren
I disagree with you when you say that faith was why Larry the Lizard survived his adventures in one peice.
(sorry, p is Pandanut12)
@Matt W.
This is because the title is "Lizard Survives 3,000 Miles in Suitcase and 30
Minutes in Washing Machine". For any living thing to do that, it has to be strong. For example, if the lizard was very weak and had very few or no muscles, then it would have not survived. This is why I think the lizard is strong.
@Unknown 7
I agree with you because for this lizard to survive a plane ride that long and sit in a running washing machine for 30 minutes, it has to be strong.
@Ghost
@Kate O
I agree with you that the lizard is strong because he could have easily sufficated from being in a crammed suicase and whirled around in a washing machine. The little lizard would almost stop at nothing at remembering to breath.
@ LittleMonster0128,
Although I agree with you on the fact of this Lizard being strong, I am confussed on your reasoning.
@sethblog i agree that this lizard was luckey. i f he was young, weak, and underdeveloped he could have easily died.
@Kibble:
I agree that Larry is enduring because of what he went through.
@sethblog
I have to disagree with you about the lizard being lucky.
@ Isabelle G.,
I have to disagree with you when you say the lizard is unlucky.
@AVgleek17
I have to disagree with you when you say it was traumatizing.
@Devon S.,
I absolutely agree with why you said that this article showed that the lizard was tough.
@chocoholicdancer13
I agree withyou that Larry is strong.
@Anirbas,
I agree with you that the lizard has a trait for being lucky. Therefore, since he survived being trapped in a suitcase and being in a rinse cycle, he is a very lucky lizard.
i would dicribe this lizered as amazing. I think the story would also make for a good dinner conversation. what a story!
@IsabellaG
I disagree with you because I say survicing that vicious and vast trip and a full cycle of a washer then you would call youself lucky right?
@chocoholicdancer13
I agree with you.
@abc123comewithme
I agree with you because I also think that the lizard was very lucky.
@Trevor
I agree with your comment because you said that you would describe the lizard as a tough reptile.
@ alcatrazjail
I agree with you that it was a miracle.
@JMM126
I agree with you because the lizard is lucky that he endured a 3000 mile trip and a full cycle in a washing machine.
@ antonio
I agree that this lizard is strong. If it survived the 3,00 mile commute from Africa to the UK, and a 30 min wash cycle, it has to be pretty hardy.
