In "A Small Good Thing", was it right for Scotty's mother to yell at the baker and go into his bakery and be so mad at him?

yes, it was right for Scotty's mother to go into the bakery and yell at the baker because the baker DID kill her son and she has every right to be mad even if he was sorry, and apologized.

yes it was right for scottys mother because the baker had no right to make those mean phone calls. also if i was scottys mom i would do the same thing.

yeah i think that it was right for scotty's mother to yell at the baker and go into his bakery and be so mad at him because she had just lost her son, and to have a person keep calling their house and reminding them of scotty. also, the baker was being very mean over the phone and telling them that they have forgotten about scotty. it was not right of him to keep calling the house and saying cruel things to Ann and Howard, so i believe that Ann certainly had a right to confront the baker. and last, if Ann had not confronted him, then they would have never been able to really see the other side of eachother, and become such good friends. it gave us a good look on the other side of the baker, and tells us that we really shouldn't judge a book by its cover, cause you dont really know whats on the other side of the story.

I dont think it was right for Scotty's mother to be angry with the baker. She didn't even know if it was him that had called her house and hurt her son. The baker was just trying to remind the mother that he had put effort into making the cake and he assumed she had blown him off. The Baker had no idea that Scotty had been hit by a car and put into the hospital, so I think Scotty's mother has no right to be mad.

Well, I guess it was right for her because she was very emotional. the reason was because her son just died and the baker just keeps on calling and putting even more stress on her.She can also be mad because the baker dosnt really explain why he is calling and he just hangs up on Ann and Howard.Just because he isnt really nice dosnt mean that they have to deal with it.So she does have all the right to be mad at him!

It was ok, her son just died!!! i would have flipped out as well. The baker was being very rude and calling the house that was uncalled for! Which would make me very mad. The mom had every right to flip out and do what she did, therefore it was ok to yell at the baker and storm in on his store !! I

Yes, it was okay for Scotty's mother to act the way she did. After all, her only son was dead. I can only imagine the pain she was in and the baker didn't help. Nobody calls someone's house twenty million times for a sixteen dollar cake. The very first time he called, the father answered the phone and told him, truthfully, he had no idea about any cake. Other people would have guessed maybe Ann had given the wrong number by accident. But this baker? No. Instead he decides he' going to harass the people on the phone until he gets rid of the cake. Ann had every right to tell the baker in person that she no longer needed the cake. If that included yelling at him, well he only brought that upon himself. His actions were rude and unnessicary. It was right for Scotty's mother to act the way she did.

I think it was wrong for Scotty's mother to yell at the bakery because he did not know scotty died and he was only doing his job. He only wanted money for the cake he made for her son. Also I do not think it was right for the baker to keep buging the dad about how no one picked up the cake or that he owes him money.

It was not right for Ann Weiss to talk to the baker like she did. It wasn't right because the baker did not know that Scotty had died. Also the baker worked really hard on the cake and was upset that Weiss's just left it to get stale. Ann Weiss was not right to talk to the baker like she did.

I don't think it was right for Scotty's mother to yell at the baker. He did not know that Scotty was injured, so she just jumped to a conclusion. The baker just wanted them to pick up the cake because he spent a long time making it.

no. I underdtand that she would be mad at the baker for the rude phone calls, but she shouldn't have swore at him and told him that she wanted him dead

tbuckley said...

yes i think it was fine what scottys mother did because she must have been upset because her son just died, also i would have been mad because it could have been the baker who killed scotty so i would have tried to find out.

No, I don't think it was right of Scotty's mother to yell at the baker, under normal circumstances. This wasn't a normal circumstance. Her only son died, and she was very "out of it", for lack of better words. Everyone should understand what she is going through, because everyone has had or will have an experience where someone very close to them dies. It's a very traumatic experience, and I can't blame her at all. The baker didn't know what he said was tearing her apart, but it was. It was neither of their fault. With a traumatic experience like that, her reaction seems forgivable, but not necessarily right.

no i dont think so. she never knew if it was the bakery that j=hit scotty so she doesnt have any rgiht to yell at him. and he didnt know that scotty was dead.

Yes i think it was because her son just died and she was very emotional and the baker was very rude. But then the baker relizes what happened and he is nice. So everything was good at the end except the son dieing

bobby said...

Yes because the baker ran over scotty and kept calling them to pick up the cake and kept calling but did not say any thing so it does give scotty's mother all the right to go up to him and yell at him.

GarrettG said...

Yes. It was right for Scotty's mother to do that because she was going through a tough time and he was harassing her with phone calls. It would be totally understandable for the baker if she was mad because her son just died, rather than if she had just stubbed her toe.

I do not think it was right for Scotty's mom to yell at the baker, but i don't think that it was right for the baker to keep calling the weiss' house. Even though the cake was old and stale, the baker had no right to harass ann & howard. However, Ann had no right to become so mad at the baker because he never knew that Scotty had passed away.

L-DOG said...

i don't think so because, yes she was very upset about her son's death but she had no right yelling at him i think the way she did it was rude

I don't think that it was right for Ann to be so mad at the baker. He didn't do anything to Ann or her family. He was just calling her to say that the cake was ready! He put a lot of his time and effort into making it. It wasn't right for Ann to go into his bakery and yell at him. She accused him for all the things that happned to her family, like the car crash. The baker had nothing to do with the innocent, so she had no right to be so mad.

Yes, it was right for Scotty's mother to yell at the baker. He is only supposed to call once, maybe twice a day to ask about the cake. And he's also not supposed to make it sound scary. He would probably be losing his business by now if word gets out that he was harassing one of his customers.

Yes! I do think that it was right for Scotty's mother to yell at the baker because she JUST lost her son! Of course she is going to be mad and sad and have all these mixed feelings. And to top it off she has the annoying baker calling her 24/7 reminding her of Scotty. She has every right to be mad at him!

Dana K!!! said...

UH, YEAH! Who are you kidding? She just lost a child and this man is taunting her. He didn't know, but she was distraught and needed to vent, so I don't blame her.

I think that it was right for Scotty's mother to yell at the baker and to be so mad. I think this because the baker was harassing them with calls. In the story it states that The baker called 3 times and kept asking about the cake but Howard didn't know what the baker was talking about.

toni said...

no it was not right, she didn't know if it was definetly him calling, and she didnt know who actually killed him so she has no right to be yelling at anyone. she should've been nice to the baker and asked if he did call, if it really was him then why he was calling

I think she had every right to be mad at the Baker. He kept calling her and saying it was about Scotty. Also she had just lost her son Scotty so she was depressed and mad so she reacted on taking it out on the caller, who happened to be the Baker. He had kept saying he wanted his 16 dollars for the cake when that wasn't important, because their son was in the hospital from a hit and run. In the story it says that he called and she picked up yelling what do you want and he said that it was about Scotty. Next she yelled "You are an evil bastard, stop calling" then hung up

I think that it was right for Scotty's mother to get angry at the Baker because her son had just died and she was extremely upset and the baker wouldnt stop calling about the cake, which was the least of her problems. The baker should had relized that they couldnt get the cake for some reason and left them alone.

I do think that is was fine for Ann to go into the bakery and yell at the baker because Scotty had died and the baker didnt know this but he kept on calling and one time he said he had their son Scotty here after he died.

I agree with kendall the wife had a reason to be mad at the baker.Even though the baker didn't know he should have just callen once or twice then left it alone.

mrs.pete wentz said...

I agree with kayla i think the baker shouldn't have called as much and the son was dying so it made everything worse

Kendall :) said...

Yes because her son just died from getting hit by a car and she got the calls from the baker saying,"It's about Scotty, did you forget him?" so she took her husband (Howard) and went to the bakery to complain to him that it was wrong for you to call. so i think she has every right to yell.

LeBron said...

It wasn't right for her to go into the bakery and yell at the baker like that. The baker had no idea when he maade the calls that Scotty had died. The baker was just getting mad because he put alot of time into that cake and nobody even came to get it.

Casey :D said...

i agree with marissa, because the baker did not know that he was hurt, let alone dead, so when he found out he changed and said sorry. ann should've never said anytihng bad to the baker.

Kayla =) said...

I also agree with Marissa I think it was wrong of the mother to yell at the baker. Yes, i would be upset if my son died too but he had no idea. He just thought maybe they forgot but he also should have stopped after a while but the mother was not right to do that to the baker either.

while she was obviously overwhelmed with emmotions at the time and proboly very confused, that does not make it right for scottys mother to go and force her sorrow upon an unaware man just trying to do buisiness. if i were in the bakers shoes, left with a stale cake on my counter i would aslo make somewhat unhappy phone calls.

i wonder who the caller was. it could of been the baker, but he said he didn't call. i wonder who it was...
