I just finished genesis and it was amazing. It gives you these ideas, but doesn't oisentanisly (sp?) lay out the ideas, it lets you take the ideas. I has the most suprising twist that will leave you shocked! I had no clue bout the ending and it really took me by surprise.

I will be reading To Kill a Mockingbird, for many reasons actually. First of I currently do not have a book I'm into and two because it is a classic. I have heard many good things about this book and can not wait to start reading it!

i really want to read to kill a mocking bird because it sounds like a great book and i have heard a lot about it in the past. It is mentioned in many movies and books i have read. therefore it would be interesting to find out what it is really about and if it is as good as it is brought up to be.

I have already read some of the books of the month such as Mockingbird, Journey to the Center of the Earth and Marcelo in the Real World. Mockingbird is a great story because it is from an interesting point of view. For example, it is from the point of view of a young girl with asperger’s (type of autism). Therefore, since it is from the point of view of a person who does not think like most people, it makes it interesting to see how they think. I recommend this to anyone and it is also an easy read. On the other hand, Journey to the Center of Earth is a much harder read because it is a classic and uses sentences differently with different words that are not used today. “All hangs together, all is clear now, and I can understand how it was that Saknussemm, when he found himself placed on the Index Expurgatorius, and obliged to conceal the discoveries of his genius, had to bury his secret in an incomprehensible cryptogram.” Therefore, since there are more complex words, this book is harder to understand. I recommend watching the movie before reading this to have more of an understanding of the book. Marcelo in the Real World is a pretty good read. It is like Mockingbird because the point of view is also from a person with autism.

I'm reading to kill a mocking bird and i really like it. At some points it is hard to understand though because all the characters talk with thick southern accents. However, the story line is very interesting and i like it.

I would like to read Genius. It seems like a very interesting book. I like to read books were you have to think about the story after your done reading. Therefore I would like to read, "Genius".

Im reading a northern light now. it is very good but when i started reading it last year i had to pick something else. this book was set back in the early 1900s and fot those of you who dont know they spoke differently than we do now. just to let you know it was kind of hard for me to understand what they were talking about because of their word choices. but i can understand it now and it is a really good murder mystery.

I have chosen to read the book, "Beastly" because I had been interested in the story by seeing the preview for the movie. I have been interested in the fact that the book is somewhat a modern version of "Beauty and the Beast" which was one of my favorite fairytale stories when I was younger. I also like the whole idea of the main character being stuck as a beast if he does not find someone who truly loves him. Therefore, I have chosen to read "Beastly" because the classic fairy tale story has made me want to read the modern day version.

I think I will read to kill a mocking bird because it sounds like a good story. Although it is challenging, it will be good to read it now so I can have a better understanding of it when we have to read it in high school. It is also mentioned a lot in other book that i have read such as the book Mockingbird. Therefore I think it would be interesting to read it and be able to reference it.

I would like to read the book genesis because it is the book club book. If you read the book you will get extra credit for reading a book and if you go to the book club. Therefore by reading the book genesis it will make my grade go higher.

I finished "To Kill a Mockingbird" on Sunday. It was amazing!!! It was good because it discussed very big issues. For example, it had a lot involving racism, since it took place in the late 1930s. This made it interesting because I never realized how bad it was for African-Americans. Read it, and you will never regret it.

I really want to read 'Genesis' because a lot of people have said that its a really good book. But from what I've seen from a few comments'To Kill A Mockingbird' is apparently an amazing book too. So Im not sure which one I'll pick. Maybe I'll read both ..

I just finished "Journey to the Center of the Earth." I think it was a great book, but hard to get through because of the difficult vocabulary. An example of one of the vocabulary words is, amidity. Besides the hard vocabulary the story was very good. This was good because of the adventure and plot that sucked the reader in immediately. From when Professor Lidenbrock discovered the hidden note in the book, to their arrival home, I was interested and always in the story. I constantly wanted to read more of the book. It was very well written. Therefore, this book was very good and I enjoyed it the whole way through.

I think that i am going to read To Kill A Mockingbird becuase all of my friends say it is a really good book and that i should read it. Therefore I am going to read To Kill A Mockingbird for this months classic.

I read To Kil A Mocking Bird and it was amazing. It was a sweet story that kept you interested in this little girls life, but sent some very powerful messages. It didn't throw them right out there, but just like the way a child would pick up a secret their parents don't want to know, which allowed them to be easily convayed because we've all done that....

mromes said...

I just read "To Kill a Mockingbird." It was an excellent piece of literature because of the description, plot, and elaborate characters. This piece was very descriptive on almost every page. The story had great word choice and good descriptive sentences throughout. The Plot of this story was very good. I thought it was a great storyline and the plot just made the story great. Another great aspect of the story was the elaborate characters, such as Boo Radley, Atticus, and Scout. They were only three of the many great characters that tied the book together. Therefore, this book was very good because of the elaborate characters, description, and an excellent plot.

Question? Is to kill a mocking bird a short book or long.

Kaitlyn O. said...

I just finished reading Mockingbird and it was one of the best books I've ever read! It was so full of emotion, loving, heartbreak, and everything inetween. I loved Caitlin and how well she dealt with everything considering she had asburgers disease. She overcame so much that I never thought that she could including; her brothers death, finding closure and finding a reliable friend, which is something that everyone needs. Kathryn Erskine did an amazing job developing the emotions of the characters in the book! I would recommend this book to anyone thats in need of a really amazing story.

Kristen L. said...

I am on page 60 of To Kill a Mockingbird and it is pretty good! I agree with Luke that sometimes their accents are confusing but it is not too bad! At first, it starts kind of slow but quickly begins to pick up. It is a great book to read because it is a classic! I can't wait to keep reading.

I would like to read Genesis because it seems very intresting.Like in class how you where talking about how a man is trying to convice a robot that it s not a real person. Therefore this show that I am intrested in the book genesis.

I just finished to kill a mockingbird. This is was a very interesting story because of its characters. For example: an interesting character is boo radley. He is a mysterious character and always stays in his house. The kids are afraid of him. In the story, i always wondered if he would come out of his house and what he would do. Therefore, because of interesting characters like boo, this story is interesting. I recommend it to everyone, plus everyone has to read it in high school anyway.

read Marcelo in the real world, I like this book because it wasn't typical. Marcelo's illness kept him from being the norm, he responded in different ways then you would think. He couldn't look people in the eye he didn't know what you were trying to say if you weren't perfectly clear and above all he looked at the world in a different way, he didn't fully understand it so he pointed out things we normally don't pay attention to. This book was refreshing, that is what made it so amazing.

mromes said...

I just finished one of Agatha Christie's novels called, "And Then There Were None." This story was a great mystery because of the little hints around the house but no hint gave anything away. Such as, the ten little indian poem in each bedroom or the ten little indians on the table where they ate, but after one person on the island died, one indian would disappear. Therefore, the story had excellent use of foreshadowing to make the story great.

Will I still get extra credit on both of the books?

I just finished "To Kill A Mockingbird". It was one of the best books I ever read because of the emotion the it gives to the reader. For example when court was over and Tom Robinson was announced guilty it was very emotional for Atticus because of the fight he put up and how racial the judge was of black people. Therefore it was very emotional to the reader by the racism in the book.

I just read mockingbird and I loved it. Kathryn Erskine does a great job developing Caitlin and filling the book with strong emotions. It makes me think anything is possible after reading how Caitlin dealt with everything considering she had asbuagers disease. She overcame her brother’s death, finding closure, and finding a reliable friend which is something that everyone needs.

I just read "To Kill a Mockingbird" and it was smashing. Smashing means exellent or wonderful. This book was either or. I think so becuase I really like the main character "Scout". I did because she was spunky. She wasn't afraid to stand up for her family members or her beliefs and because of it, got into a lot of fights. A definition of spunky is courageous or determined. By getting into fights she was courageous, and because she was fighting, she was very determined to make her point. Wowee.

Kace said...

i read beastly and i thought it was a good adaptation of the orginal beauty and the beast story. its more modern and really delves into the shallowness of kids. it shows that most kids care too much about looks, and dont get to know people, which is a horrible thing. a person doesnt have to have a perfectly symmytrical face (usually said to be the key to beauty) to be beautiful.

mromes said...

I just read "Murder on the Orient Express" by Agatha Christie. This book was very good because of the mystery throughout the book. Poirot is a great detective who put all the pieces of the puzzle together. This mystery was great because it could have been any of the passengers on the train, but Poirot knew for a long time before saying anything. Each passenger was linked to the Armstrong case and Cassetti killed the mother and daughter from the Armstrong house. So all the passengers have the motive to kill him, but no one knows until the end. Therefore, this book was a great mystery book.

I just finished "To Kill A Mocking Bird". It was a great story because it had such a deep meaning. It was about to children, Jem and Jean Louise finch, whose father, Atticus Finch, was a lawyer. The story takes place in the deep south, where blacks were still treated as a minority. Atticus finch was defending a black man though who was being framed for the rape of a white girl. Along the way Jem and Jean Louise go through good and bad times and there is a twist at the end. Therefore, the story had a deep meaning because it showed how life was rough in the deep south.

I just finished "Marcelo in the Real World." I like this book because of Marcelo is a very unique character and brings the whole book together. Marcelo really brings the book to life. One of his unique qualities is the way he listens to music. He loves music and he hears notes different from everyone else. He can also hear music in his head when no music is playing. Another unique quality that Marcelo has is he is deeply interested in god and religion. Marcelo spends large amounts of his time reading texts and praying. Then Marcelo is taken out of his safe environment and meets the real world. He has to adjust and cope with the new life he lives. Therefore, Marcelo makes the book and brings the book to life.

ConnorB said...

This month I read Marcelo in The Real World and this was a really good book. You would think that this book would be sad because it is about a kid with autism but it is actually really funny. I would rate this book 8.5 and I would reccomnd it to people who like immatature books. Therefore this is one of my favorite books.

I just finished the book Peak by Roland smith and I thought it was very good. I thought this book was very good because it took place in an unlikey scene. also I thought this book was very good because it turned out to be a writing that the main character wrote in his moleskin. I thought the whole book turning out to be a journal was very creative. therefore I thought this book was good because it was creative and literally took writing to new height

JeffG said...

I just finished The Journey To The Center Of The Earth and I thought it was pretty good because of the suspense when in the center of the earth. When Axel gets split up and finally gets found but has to meet his Uncle at the bottom of the level they are on something unexpected happens. Therefore this book is pretty good and for people who like suspenseful books should read this.

I just finished Mockingbird. I thought it was good because it was a short, easy read that brings up big topics. I read it in like two days, and it made me think about people's view of the world in general. Since it was short and easy, I really liked it.

I just finished "To Kill a Mockingbird". I thought that this was a very good book because I liked the main character Scout. She always stood up for her family no matter what happened. This book also shows that the way of life in the South used to be a lot harder. I also can not believe that Tom Robinson was accused of rape. This book kept me wanting to read and read. Therefore this was a very good book and I reccomend it to everyone else.

I just finished "Peak" by Roland Smith. I think this book was good because it was exciting and different from any other book I have read before. This book took place on Mount Everest. This is completely different from any book I read before. This uniqueness of the book made it interesting and exciting. This book was also exciting because of the adventure Peak goes on up Mount Everest. Therefore, this book was good because of the exciting story and uniqueness of the story.

I just finished "Beastly" by Alex Flinn. This book was pretty good and it was an easy read. There was character development in the story, which makes the book more effective. For example, in the book, the main character is rich, popular, and good looking, but very mean. However, when he gets turned into a beast, he realizes that it is important to get to know someone by their personality, not looks, and he becomes a different person. Therefore, since this book has great character development and teaches a good lesson, it was a good read.

I just finished Genesis by Bernard Beckett. And even though it takes awhile to get good and interesting the end of the book is increadiable. It definitally is a harder read because of the way it is written but it is well worth the read.

I read "Mockin Bird" by Kathryn Erskine. it was a really good book. i really got into it. i finished it on 2 days. and i only do that if i really like a book. this book had great athours craft, and i would recemend it to teen.. boys and girls.. and adualts.

Colleen O said...

I read Lement and all I can say is it was a great book! I started it around 5 and finished at about 11. This book may seem odd since its about faeries and leprochons but it is way more than that. This book deals with secreats and lies, its definitaly a great book.

Colleen O said...

I actually just finished Beastly and it was another amazing book. This book is filled with amazing moments and unforegtable characters. This is definially a book people should read because its short but interesting.

i finished the book a northern light about 2 weeks ago. it is a very good book for people who like books set back before 1910. it is also about mattie's life before she discovers the body at a hotel. so if you were expecting a murder myustery you will not be getting. overall it is very good. not what i was expecting though.

Colleen O said...

I just finished "To Kill a Mocking Bird" and it was amazing.I really liked it because it deals with some of the issues we dealed with just a short time ago. I definitally recemend it to everone because it is a great read.

I totally forgot to blog when I finished my book, but I finished the book, "Lament" and I thought it was good because it had great imagery. For example in the book there were many wonderful expanded moments and figurative language. Therefore, this book was and enjoyment to read and I really liked it a lot.

Rory said...

I also finished the book, "Genesis" and I thought that it was a fantastic book because it makes the reader think a lot. For example, it made me wonder and think more about people as humans and humanity all together. Therefore this book was one of the best I have ever read. It is a great piece of literature.

mromes said...

I just finished another great Agatha Christie mystery, "Murder of Roger Ackyord." I liked this book because of the amazing detective Hercule Poirot. In this mystery Poirot wants to be out of the business, when this amazing thrilling mystery takes place. Roger Ackroyd was stabbed and the local police have no clue who the murderer could be. Though the local police do not know, Poirot will figure it out. Therefore, this was an excellent book because of the amazing detective Hercule Poirot.

AntA said...

I read the book "Marcelo In The Real World" I really enjoyed this book and thought it was touching because it is a sort of coming of age story about a boy with aspergers. For example he starts out not being able to have normal conversations but then developes into a person than can not only make small talk but also heart to hearts. Therefore this book was touching because it makes you feel happy for marcelo that he has progressed so much.

JeffG said...

I just finished the book "Peak" and I thought it was really good because of the excitement it brought to the reader. In the book when Peak was climbing Mount Everest it was very exciting. Therefore, I thought this was good because the excitement it brought to me.

Abby said...

I had recently finished Beastly, and I thought it was such a great book because the chemistry between the two main characters that fall in love is so strong. Also, I loved the book because of it's unique but old story line. In the book, the two main characters, Adrian and Lindy, start to fall for each other through out many parts of the book and the way the author describes how they are feeling is so powerful and strong. I also love the story line for this book. The story line was supposed to be a fairy tale, Beauty and The Beast, but with a unique twist to make it more modern. Just how the princess falls in love with the beast in the fairy tale, you still get the same idea when you are reading Beastly. Therefore, I loved reading this book because of the storyline and the strong chemistry and romance between the main characters.

LTeixeira said...

I finished Peak by Roland Smith and i would suggest it to anyone. It really was a great book because it was action packed and sort of a mystery. Also, it was unique because i have never read anything like it because it was about climbing. This was a great book and anyone looking for and easy read will love this.

I finished to kill a mockingbird and i was not very excited to read it because when i turned eleven i got the book for my birhtday and i thought it was boring ,but the reason i thought it was boring was because i did not understand what was going on , but now that im older i actually understand the book and to my surprise it was really good. I loved the way that even though it was not a mystery it had a mystery feel to it because you wanted to know will they let tom robinson free? or will they have the chance to see boo radely? I also thought that the court part was really cool and interesting because i have seen my mom go through trial and cross examine witnesses and never found it interesting till i read this book. I also like the way it was in a childs perspective so that children our age could relate to the character. I really liked it. No wonder its a classic!

Kaitlyn O. said...

I just finished To Kill a Mockingbird and it was a very very good book! One of the things that I was questioning throughout the whole book was if the children would see Boo Radley? or If Tom Robinson would be set free. Both those questions were answered in intersting and creative ways which is one of the reasons that I really liked the book. Another reason why is because of the ending of the book. Although I'm not going to give away the ending because I'm sure that other people will want to read this book I will say that the story unravels in a way that I thought it wouldn't. The author Harper Lee made the book interesting from beginning to end and I would highly recommend this book to anyone!

DThompson said...

I finished reading "Peak" by Roland Smith, and I thought it was a good book, mainly because of the setting. I have never been to Tibet, Chiang Mai, or even Thailand. So reading a book that takes place there sort of gave me an idea of how the residents behave. For example, I never knew monks existed in that area, much less that a monk would help a professional climber's son. Hence, the unknown setting of the book made it more interesting.

I have just read an Agatha Christie bokk called Murder at the Vicarage. Agatha writes really good mistery books. She also writes with very good word choice, some of the words I really could not understant. I am definetly going to read one of her books again. Therefore Agatha Christie is one of the best authors and I will definetly read a book by her again.

Kristen L. said...

I just finished To Kill a Mockingbird and it was pretty good. The book, in my opinion, started kind of slow because not much happened but as I proceeded to read on it got better. Since it is a class American Literature book, I would recommend it to anyone!

JeffG said...

I just finished "Murder on the Orient Express" by Agatha Christie and it was so good because of the questions it makes you ask yourself. For example when Poirot was talking to some of the passengers on the train someone said they saw someone peaking through the door where Ratchett was and as soon as the passenger saw the guy in the door the guy turned away and went out the other door. This made me ask myself why was that guy in there maybe he was just his bunking partner. Therefore, this book was really good because of the questions it makes you ask yourself.

Nick.F said...

I just finished "genesis" by bernard beckett and it was great because it made you ask questions about humanity. An example of this would be when Art and adam are fighting over who is real because adam has a brain and thinks unlke art who processes things witch made me think about how is art realy anwsering these questions if he is a robot? Therefore this shows that Genesis is a great book because it makes you wonder or question about the charters like when Art and Adam where fight over what a real person is.

I just read 'To Kill a Mockingbird' and I liked it a lot more than the first time I read it. When I read it in 7th grade the way it was written was hard for me to understand(even though I still liked it). Now that I have read it a second time, the message and overall plot is more clear(and I like it even more). I really enjoyed all this book had to say; from its theme about racism in a white southern community, to the lesson the father teaches about learning to have sympathy and understanding to others. So it really was a good book and I am glad I reread it!

Maren said...

I also read Genisis, and to be honest, the beginning bored me. However, as I read further into the book and realized that it wasn't about doing-but about seeing-the topic being discussed began to interest me. The question about being alive was really intriguing. It made me think more about what living really was. I also was really surprised about the ending. I cant say I didn't expect it though, there were defiantly parts that made me think.. (I would be specific but I don't want to ruin it for anyone who hasn't read the book)

I finished the celebrity pick, which was Beastly. One of my favorite books, but I heard that the movie is nothing like it which is kind of depressing but the book was outstanding. Well in my opinion it was because it was all about true love, and finding inner beauty and not by what's on the outside. Kyle is faced to find true love while being a beast. He thinks he isn't going to ever be himself again, but then he meets a girl that falls in love with him for who he is. This book showed me that looks aren't everything. I still want to see the movie to compare the quality, but I would highly recommend this book to people that enjoy love stories.

I just finished "The Murder on the Links" by Agatha Christie. This book was so good because Hercule Poirot always has a different input than anyone else about the case. In this mystery Poirot is up against French investigator, Giraud. They make a wager to see who can solve the mystery first. Poirot is all about facts and using his brain. While his opposer, Giraud digs in the dirt to investigate. Therefore, the competition between the two detectives and Hercule Poirot's outstanding way of figuring out the crime.

I just finished the book "To Kill A Mocking Bird". This book was one of my all time favorites because of the well developed charcters. I can truthfully say that Atticus, Jem and Scout's father, is by far my favorite charcter i have ever read about. His honest and sincere kindness and sense of doing the right thing jumps off the page. I rooted for his sucess through the whole book weather it was in the court room defending Tom Robinson or raising his unique children single handedly. Therefore, I recommend this book to anyone who doesn't need a page turned but enjoy deep connections to each charcter that makes you want to read on.

I read the book Genesis. It was hard to understand. I wasn't expecting the surprise ending. I didn't think that was going to happen. As the book went on it was easier to understand because you realized that it was an interview. I like how it was our future and the character's past.
