I am currently reading The Giver and it's very good and interesting. I can't wait to read Rules of Survival. That sounds like a type of book that I won't be bored during which is the type of books I like. I can't wait to start reading them and get further into The Giver!

Billy P said...

my book club is going to read the giver. It seems intersting and it's an easy read. It's a whole 174 pages

Kevin T. said...

I am reading a fantasy book right now but not for book clubs. I am reading Scumble by Ingrid Law. This book is really interesting and has an enormous amount of fantasy. After I read this book, I plan on reading The Giver because from the people commenting, it is really interesting.

I finished the Rag and Bone Shop. It was a really amazing book and I would recommend it to everyone. It had an amazing surprise ending. Also if you liked this book I would recommend the book Genesis because it is fairly similar to Rad and Bone Shop being it that both books revolve around an interview and both books have an amazing ending.

Ted said...

I am planning on reading The Tomorrow Code because Mr. Horvath said that is was similar to Genesis. I read Genesis because it really gets the reader think about what's possible based on science but also what you believe. I think that Tomorrow Code is going to be great and I can't wait to read it.

I'm going to start to read the book called "The Giver" and i can't wait to read the book.

I read Rules of Survival last year and its a really good book. its very well written with description and its not a horror book but it does have some times that freaked me out alittle and was creeppy and scary. i think boys and girls should read it becasue it impacts your life on showing you that you dont even really know whats really going on in someone elses house because that front door.

jess c. said...

I read Rules of Survival last marking period and highly recommend itas much as shelby does. Im also thinking about reading Rag and Bone Shop to take the spot of my book review

kami said...

I am looking forward to reading "Rules of Survival" it seems very good, and considering the fact that "The Eternal Ones" is fantasy, it seems really good too. I read "North of Beautiful" last year. It wasn't my favorite, but it was pretty good.I would definetly recomend it to girls.

Right now I am reading The Eternal Ones, and so far its really good. I cant wait to finish it so I can post it on this blog!

ZoZo V. said...

The Rag and Bone shop is a very good book! I'm reading it right now and even though I havent finished it yet, I would definitely recommend it! I also really like the idea of replacing the book review with a book club book (The Rag and Bone Shop) because I like talking about books soooo much more than writing about them! It just makes it so much more interactive! Again, I definitely recommend Rag and Bone shop!

WILL said...

I read the giver already in 5th grade and thought it was a great book, but im not so familar with most of it just tiny details so i'm really looking forward to reading it again for book club

zSchulz said...

I just finished reading the book, The Rag and Bone Shop. I would definetly reccomend as much as ZoZo up there. Even though it is a short book, it keeps you hanging all the way through. Also it is a book of the month, so it will take the place of your book review. Overall, this book is great and should be read.

Rockelle V said...

I am reading the rules of survival now and it is really good. what the mother does to her kids is just insane but really kepps you reading. i cant wait to read sleepy hollow also because the tim burton remake is my favorite movie.

Just In Case said...

I'm thinking about reading the Tomorrow Code after I finish my current book. If anyone has read the Tomorrow Code, could you give me some feedback so I know what to expect?

bella p said...

The eternal ones sounds good. It sounds a lot like the book Fallen by Lauren Kate. That was a previous book of the month. I really liked Fallen so i think the eternal ones will be interesting too. They are also both fantasy books. All of the books of the month sound really good so i am looking forward to reading them!

RoryO. said...

I read the "Eternal Ones" and I thought that it was a great book. The only thing that was weird was the end. It wasn't exactly weird but more confusing. There is sooo much that is explained that is a little “overwhelming” I guess you could say but other than that I thought it was a great book. It was definitely interesting and I loved reading it!!! After I finish my current book that I am reading I am going to be reading “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.” It seems pretty good and it is short!

Anonymous said...

The book I'm going to read for my book club is The Giver because like George said it sounds interesting to read.

srichard said...

I am reading The Giver, so far liking it. Most of my family read it and all loved it, it started some interesting conversations. My next book is th Rag and Bone Shop, I read it last year and wasn't crazy about it, I actually didn't finish it so I eill give it another shop and look forward to sharing with the Book Club!

I'm interested in reading the rag and bone shop because when I was at the Book club for last month mrs. Lever showed us the trailer for it and it looked really interesting.

AntA said...

Im excited to read the tommorow code because it seems interesting. Im into the whole sci-fi thing and really like readng about apocolyptic things. In fact a few of the last books I read sounded similiar to this.

Matt S said...

I read "The Rag and Bone Shop" and i thought it was a decent book. It was for sure a thrilling book to read with an intresting ending. I also can't wait to get into "The Tommorow Code" it sounded like a great book.

davpizzaperson said...

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving I want to read this because I only know a little bit about the plot and last month I wanted to read Frankenstein but never took enough action to set it as the next book to read. I kept saying okay after this book... Then I might want to read "The Tomorrow Code" it sounds pretty good but I might have one I find even more apealing.

steve ferg said...

i am going to read the giver after i read my present book

Lidia said...

I read The Rag and Bone Shop and loved it. It was an easy, quick read. It also had great character development and a surprising ending. I would definitely recommend it!

I am going to try and read at least two books to get extra credit.

I'm going to ead the tomorrow code i think. It looks really cool.

it sounds like to me that the tomorrow code, seems pretty good by what other people are saying. Maybe i will give that I shot.

Connor B said...

Im am going to read The Legend of Sleepy Hollow it is a short book and why not read a short book if it is extra credit.

Andrew C. said...

I finished the Legend of Sleepy Hollow and it was great. It was too short. I wish it was longer because it was fantastic. The wording could be confusing to some, so you must be focused.

Kace said...

i just finished the rag and bone shop and i must say, i love the ending. i wont ruin it though.

KaitlynO said...

I really would like to read North of Beautiful and Rules of survival. They both seem like 2 really interesting great books that I wouldn't get bored with and thats the type of book I really enjoy reading!

Abby said...

I feel that a lot of people are reading The Giver because it's so short, but I would like to read it because I've heard that it's a really good book. I also would want to read North Of Beautiful. It seems interesting.

maya pirulli said...

I read the eternal ones, very interesting plot. one of my favorite things about this book is the sense of fear the author gives you, I found myself in constant frustration with the characters because they could not read the trap they were walking right into.

Kace said...

i just finished rip van winkle and the legend of sleepy hollow, and both were very good. dont think that theyre just quick books though, sometimes the author can be confusing and you have to pay attention to understand the plot

AdamV said...

I just finished The Legend of sleepy hollow. it is very good. Why because it has a ton of suspense and is interesting. It tells the beginning middle and end of the school teacher Ichabod Crane's life. It is interesting what happens to him and I would reccomend it to anyone because it is action packed and suspenseful. It has alot of classic so u really have to get into the reading to understand it.

AdamV said...

I finished Rip Van Winkle. It was very interesting regardless that it was short. I was confused at parts and then utterly suprised. It was a great story though. I thought that it was interesting when he woke up with a beard and a rusty gun. But then it all made sense when the people started talking about the revoloutionary war. Everyone should read this fantastic story. Also it exposes you to different words that you may have never seen before

jenny said...

I just finished North of Beautiful a couple of days ago. I thought that it was really good. It was neat that it always referred to maps. It had a lot of figurative language, too.

Maren said...

I just finished The Eternal Ones, and I really liked it! The whole concept of having lived a past life fascinated me, and I loved how some people are connected to others by this. I can't sum up everything in this book in a paragraph, but I can tell you it was probably one of the best books I have read recently. The character development and twist of events was great, and overall it was a good read!

RoryO. said...

I completely agree with Andrew C. In order to actually follow what the story is about, you have to stay very focused, otherwise you will get lost in whats going on. I know that I had to read some parts over again so I could understand them!! Other than some slight confusion though, I thought that it was a very interesting book to read, plus it's only about 80 pages!!

RoryO. said...

I also just finished "Rip Van Winkle" and to my surprise, I actually liked it alot!!! This is probably because I have never read anything along the lines of this plot. I could never imagine falling asleep, then waking up and it's 20 years later!!! If this were to occur around this time, there would definitely be some differences, but certainly not as many around the time of the Revolutionary War!!! That would be crazy! Anyway, this was a great book that was very enjoyable to read.

Kim said...

I just finished The Giver and is was pretty good. There isn't much action but there are a few twists. It's about a boy who lives where everyone has to be as similar as possible. There's strict rules and you can't say anything about someone that might make them feel different. When everyone is given a job when they turn 12 Jonas is skipped. Everyone is shocked but they are even more shocked when they find out why.

jenny said...

I just finished The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. I thought it was okay. It was weird because there was no dialouge. Also I didn't really know who the narrator was. But, overall it was okay

kishan P said...

i read "The Giver" by Lois Lawry and I thought that it was a great book except i thought that the narrator should have expanded on the runaway part

Kristen L. said...

I just finished The Giver by Lois Lawry as well and it wasn't as good as I thought it would be. It wasn't bad but not much went on until the last few chapters. I need a book that has more fluent action or something happening throughout most of the book. It did let your imagenary take you away which was one of the positives. I wouldn't recomend it though.

Bino R said...

I read the book The Giver. It shows the strugle between one individual and society. the main character dosent like how people who are diffrent are treated and desides to take a stand

Rockelle V said...

I just finished the book The Eternal Ones and it was really good. The problems that small town girl Haven Moore faces when she goes to the big city NY could be really scary for anybody in real life. The plot of the story was good, she had to find her lover from her past life, but i thought she found him to quick and to easily. Anyway it was a good book.

Georginax82 said...

I just finished The Rules of Survival and i think it is a really good book. I love how the story is basically a letter written by the older brother to the younger sister. This book is a must read! I'd reccommend it to anyone

Rockelle said...

I want to read the book Sleepy Hollow because I love the movie but i want to know if it is worth reading. Can somebody help me out?

Brittany said...

I am currently reading the eternal ones. It is a very good book so far. I recommend this book so far. I recommend it to anyone that likes mysteries and romance books. And also adventure books. It is very good. I can't stop reading it! I hope to finish it soon. I can not wait to see what happens at the end.

julia h said...

I just finished The Giver and i think it's a good example of a conflict between an individual and society because the society wanted Jonas to do something, that he really didn't want. He decided to take control. Also, i thought that they skipped over a couple parts too quickly, so there wasn't a lot of action. However, I thought this book was really moving and had a good meaning to it.

Caroline W said...

I just finished the book North of Beautiful and i loved it! I liked that none of the characters were perfect and they all had their own imperfections. This made it easier to connect to them. I would reccomend this book to girls because of the romance. It is a little long but worth it.

Kace said...

I just finished the eternal ones, and I absalutly adored it! I loved how it kept me guessing until the end, unlike most books where I can pick out the entire plot within the first fifty pages. It was very good with not spelling out the relisionships.

Bella P said...

I read Rip Van Winkle by Washington Irving. This was a pretty interesting book and has a lot of surprises. It is about a man who goes into the Catskill mountains and sleeps there for one night. However, when he comes home he relizes its actually been 18 years that he was gone. Although this book is short, it does take more concentrating to read it. It is good to read something different than what people usually read today.

Billy P said...

Even though I don't like fantasy books, I am reading the giver and it is one great book at the moment. This book is definitely worth reading because it has many examples of elaboration.

Anonymous said...

This weekend I finished The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving. I found it to very interesting. I liked it a lot because even though it's an older novel it was still a little scary. Washington Irving did a great job adding suspense; he kept me at the edge of my seat throughout most of the story. A big plus was the fact that it’s only 71 pages long.

AdamV said...

I finished The Rag and Bone Shop. It was very good beacuse it had a lot of suspense and distractions. It was not long so i wish it was longer but overall I liked it. It was an easy read but there was no violence action just menatal and verbal action.

jess c. said...

I just finished reading 'The eternal ones'. It was an amazing book for romantics. It was a great twist of the usual fairytale book and I enjoied reading ever minute of it. The opsticles the charcters go through creates a lot of emotion and the unexcpeted plot up until the last page helped make it easy to read all 400 pages.

Nick.F said...

I am going to read Rag and bone shop the legend of sleepy hallow and Rip van hairy winkly by the end of the marking period.

maya pirulli said...

I read Rip Van Winkle and Sleepy Hallow. They were both good pieces of literature from my perspective, but i feel that in both stories they sometimes went off topic describing the scenery. However, I do have experience reading books from this time period and i would have to say a lot of people do this, but perhaps it is simply the way they describe it that i am not so use to that makes it seem like this.

ZoZo V. said...

I finished rip van winkle and like adam said it was a good read. Although it was short, it was a verrry advanced read! I recommend it to someone that likes advanced reading but also doesn't want a long book. I liked how rip van winkle slept for years and years and then woke up 20 years later with a beard and rusty gun! I loved the plot to this story and again...- recommend it!

AntA said...

i am currently reading The Giver and am really enjoying it. It is a fantastic fantasy book because it makes you think . The world that it takes place in is nothing like our own which makes it interesting to read.

Kristen L. said...

I just finished The Rules of Survival. I liked it a lot better than the Giver. The Rules of Survival was sooooo good! There was always so much going on and never a dull moment! It's one of those books that you just can't put down!!! At the end I felt so grateful for what I have.

connorb said...

I just read the book The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow by washington Irving. I noticed that the older pieces of literature use a bigger vocabulary. It was a very good story because it was very suspensful.

Bella p said...

I just finished the legend of sleepy hollow. I thought this book was kind of boring at the beginning but at the end it was suspenseful and interesting. I had to get used to reading this book more slowly and not at my usual pace because a lot of things were hard to understand. I read rip van winkle and liked it better than this. However, this was still an interesting book to read!

Srichard said...

I finished the giver. It shows a struggle between an individual and society. I would recoment this book to anyone. Along with many things, it shows love, Jonas realy has to learn the meaning of, and find love.

zSchulz said...

I have recently finished, The Giver. It is a very interesting book because the characters lifestyle is all planned and organized, which makes it different to ours. Also, Jonas faces a individual vs. society situaton. This book is very good, and I would reccomed it to anyone.

zSchulz said...

I just finished, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, and I liked it a lot. It started off not so good, but towards the end it became very interesting. Eventhough it is short, the author wrote using a difficult vocabulary, so it took time to get used to. Overall, this book was great and I would reccomend it to anyone.

T Weiss said...

The Legend of Sleepy hollow is a great example of elaborating. Anyone who has the writing goal of elaborating should use this book as a reference. It always seemed like the author went put of the way to add detail, as if you read the back of the book; it seemed like you could tell the story in just a paragraph.

RoryO. said...

I finished, "The Rag and Bone Shop" today and I thought it was great!! The end was very, very surprising and I would have never suspected it. I did have a feeling about who the killer was though but that was not the most shocking thing that occurred. I also thought it was amazing that the author, basically, made the entire book the interrogation. (Except for the beginning and the end.) And the best thing about it was that I didn’t feel like he was dragging it on. This book was completely fantastic and I think that anybody could read it!!!

ZoZo V. said...

I read rag and bone shop and although it was short; it was a good read. I definitely did not suspect the ending...very surprising!! And like rory said I liked how the book was basically all of the interrogation. Overall I loved it and recommend it!

Kim M. said...

I just finished North of Beautiful and I thought it was pretty good. There was a lot of character development. It's about a girl who always wants to hide her imperfections and doesn't see her self as pretty. Then when she meets a boy named Jocob her whole perspective on what beauty is changes and she learns to see herself differently.

AnnaCD. said...

I just finished readin North of Beautiful. I really loved it because it had a great theme. The book was really saying to love who you are, find inner beauty, not to care what others think of you and just, well, smile. I have to admit, though, i really hate her dad. I'm pretty sure that we were supposed to, that was the kind of character he was, but he just had this controlling felling about him. He thought that he could give orders on anything, even if he had nothing to do with the topic. And also the way he treated the mom! That was terrible! Always pointing out imperfections and saying she was fat to her face! But anyway it was a really good book. Another thing though, I was surprised at this, but there were a lot of editing misrakes throughout the book. There were words spelled wrong or missing words or missing spaces. All in all though the stroy line was great and I definitly recommend it to anyone in the search of finding true beauty.

Brandon L. said...

I finished reading THE LEGAND OF SLEEPY HOLLOW. It was surprisingly good. This book was only 40 pgs. but great. I would rate it a 9 out of ten and recomend it to all. It is very well detailed.

Brooke H.! said...

I read Rip Van Winkle by Washington Irving. I thought it was a good book but got confusing at times. When it got confusing I just went back and read the page again and again until I got it. But the story was good and interesting! Plus it was very short! I recommend it!!

Rockelle V said...

I just finished reading the book of the month the Giver for my book club. i did not like it because there wasnt alot of action but i kind of liked how the main chartacter went against his town of perfect people to make it not so perfect. i wouldnt recomend it i thought it was really boring good thing it was only 180 pgs

Anna M said...

I just finished reading reading The Eternal Ones and i was really amazed at how good it was. i was constantly wanting to flip the page and keep reading because i got so into it that i just couldnt put it down eventually. i would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a great love story. this book was definitely worth reading!

Bailey said...

I just finished reading The Eternal Ones. I really liked it because of the suspense that the main character goes through. Throughout the book, the reader is very unsure of who to trust, and it has a great twist at the end.

Ted said...

I just recently finished reading The Giver. I just want to say right now that I did like it and do reccomend it. I usually stick to books with adventures and explosions but I still read this which has neither. This is one of the books that you might keep thinking about even after you read the last page. In a perfect world where everything is decided and done right Jonas is given a hard job. He is given knowledge and feelings that no one else can feel beccause if they did then the society couldn't be perfect. It's a hard job and Jonas is starting to not like the way the society is made. As you can guess
Jonas tries to do something about it.

Brittany said...

I just finished the eternal ones by Kristen Miller last night. It was a very good book and i recomend it to anyone that likes both adventure and romance books. It was about a girl named Haven Moore. She keeps having visions and fainting. Haven feels like Iain Morrow was Ethan in a past life and she was Costance. She has to find him cause she thinks that he is her lover. Or washe her murderer in her past life?

KaylaP. said...

I just finished Rag and the Bone Shop and I thought it was a really good book. It had a surprising ending and it keeps you hanging in there and makes you want to keep reading on. I would deffinitly recommend this book! It was a short book but it was really good. And it was also a book of the month.

I just finished the Enternal Ones and I actually liked it. It had a lot of adventurous and romance parts too. It keeps you reading and want to keep flipping the page. I got really into it at points and I would recommend this book to anyone that likes suspense, adventure, and romance books.

AntA said...

I read The Giver. I thought it was an amazing book because it took place in "perfect" world. It was almost too perfect and nobody knew how it felt to get hurt. It really makes you think about if you lived in a perfect world and all of the things you would have to give up like love, family, and even some pain. It makes you almost blind. I recomend this book to anyone who is looking for a short yet meaningful read. I loved this book

Leann M said...

I read the Rag and the Bone Shop. In the beginning it was very cofusing but by the end it was very interesting. I couldn't stop reading it because I wanted to know what would happen at the end and it was very surprising at the end.

I just finisheed Rip Van Winkle. ALthough it was a short story it took me longer then i excepted. I loved the vocabulary but found it hard to understand sometimes. It wasnt the most 'page turning' story i've ever read but i realize why it was a classic

i just finished reading The Rag and Bone Shop. I thought this book was somewhat slow in the begining, but after the mystery part started to kick in it made me want to find out one thing after the next until i finally finished the book

George A said...

I finished "The Giver." I wasn't expecting to like this book, I just read it for book club. It was okay, but the literature was really good. It showed how good old writing was too, and it was very sad at the end. It resembles communism in a sort of way, but its even worse, because you have to be perfect, or you leave the world.

kami said...

I finished "Rules of Survival" and it was amazing!! The story was written very well, the author was very descriptive and used great similes. The only thing that i found a little confusing was that in the letters, I wasn't sure if some things happened after the events that were written down, or at the time Matt was writing about. Overall, the author did a great job, especially in the end.

Brooke H. said...

I just finished "The Ledgen of Sleepy Hollow"! I thought is was good but I liked Rip Van Wrinkle better! I found this one more confusing! I argee with you jess when you said I love the strong vocab.! It was kinda fun figuring out what some words ment using context cules! But anyway I think it is worth reading!!

I have decided to read "The Giver" because I have heard great reviews on it and I think it would suit my style of reading. I am hoping "The Giver" will catch my attention and make it interesting for me to read because if it is boring then I probably can't see a point in finishing it.

I have finished the book "The Giver" and really enjoyed it. I had been told that it was a confusing book to follow, and it wasn't worth reading, but to be honest, I actually thought it was a really great book. I would reccommend this book to anyone, especially if you think your the one living in a perfect world, just imagine stepping inside Jonas' shoes to see what his life is like.

I just finished reading THe Eternal Ones. This was one of the best books that I have ever read and was so interesting. I had never read a book before that explored the topic of reincarnation and think that its such an interesting concept. I would recommend this book to mostly girls and because its told from a girls point of view and is a love story. I love how Ethan and Constance or Haven and Iian keep finding each other and think its so cute. I hope that a lot of people will still read it even thoguh its no longer a book of the month!
