The last essay you will write for the close of MP2 will be based on all of the ideas and discussions we had during this marking period. You need to reflect on all of the stories and poems that we read and discussed in the Socratic circles. Your essay will be based on the quote "Those who desire to give up freedom in order to gain security will not have, nor do they deserve, either one." - Benjamin Franklin.
Though all of you will write your own reflective essay on that topic you can use this post to generate a discussion of the quote and its relevance to what we have read and discussed as we close our MP Theme of "Individual and Society".

when is this due?
So this is going to basically be a reflection based on how we grew as an interpreter.
are we going to be reflecting on what lessons we got out of all the storys you gave us during the marking period and what we learned.
I think this is a very good idea and should do this every marking period. I think that this will give us a chance to see what we've learned and what we have interpreted.
Based on the science fiction books I have read in the past I don't enjoy them, but as Maren said I hope that this book club will change that.

I don't really get how this is going to work? What are we supposed to talk about? And are we supposed to focus on one topic we have talked about or more then one??

I am very confused. When is this due? Will we be getting a rubric on this? Is thts about all the reflections we did in class?

I think that this essay will be a good way to recap marking period 2, but I do not understand exactly what it is. When will it be due? Like most of the other bloggers, I am confused.
Yeah, I agree with Bailey and all of his questions. Are you going to discuss this is class? Or is it up to us to go on the blog and find out about it? Also, I don't exactly see the connection between Benjamin Franklin's quote and Individual and Society.
I think this will be a great way to see what we have learned and what we can imrove on, so that in the next marking period we can work to improve!

I'm afraid I do not understand this either. Was this mentioned in class? When is this due? I'm not actually sure what we are supposed to write about. So we reflect on this marking period in terms of individual and society, or do we reflect on the Socratic circles, because I can barely remember what we talked about 10 minutes after the Socratic circle!!!
Is this something you are assigning in class? Or are you just expecting us to work on it on our own time and have it done by the end of the marking period?
I think that this is a great idea. This could be helpful by reflecting on our entire MP2. That is also a great quote.
I think this is a good idea because it will allow us to think about the whole marking period. For example, we'd need to remember about individual vs. society, and we did that in like November. It will help us see if we improve marking period to marking period.
This is kind of confusing. I don't really get what were writing an essay about. There is different sorts of things you said. But what Georgina said gets me on the rights track when she said it is like one big Socratic Circle reflection. This makes it more clear to me. but there are still somethings I don't get on what else we are supposed to write about. Hopefully there will be a sheet on this that will explain it to me more clear.
I think this is a good idea because we will use everything we learned this marking period in one writing piece. We can practice it all at once and become better at it, therefore this will be helpfull because we will use everything we learned. It is kind of confusing, though. When is it due?
I think that having an end of the marking period final essay is a good idea because it will require everyone to think back from the beginning of the marking period through the end and reflect on what we learned. Almost half of the students do not remember what they learned from the beginning of the marking period. Therefore, this will cause students to pay attention more in class and will help them remember everything they learned in that marking period.
This will be a great re cap of all of the things that we have learned in marking period two. I am excited to see how far we have come as writers and readers and i am also interested in whta wiull be in store for us in next marking period.
I like the idea of writing reflections because it allows us to look back on how we have grown as a student. Also, it allows us to evaluate what we could have done to make our assignments, homework, effort, etc. better. Most kids just move on from the marking period and dont look back on what they need to improve on.
I think that writing a Mp2 reflection is great becasue it lets you see how you've grown as a student from the begining of MP2 to the end. An example of this would be when you make us write reflections after socratic circles which helps us see what we need to improve on by our selves or the group its self. Which there for helps us improve on our work the next MP or work harder on
Having a reflection like this will help me notice my improvement in all of my reflections. What I plan on doing is reading all my reflections and making something big and better out of all of them.
I also do not understand what to write about.
