I know this isn’t the best topic to talk about since a lot of people have the same answer, and that is "i hate all these snow days" but i wanted peoples input on if they think all the days off is effecting their learning. I think that’s all these snow days are affecting our learning in a negative way because our minds haven’t been fully focused on school .For example a week ago we only had one and a half days of school and during that time we learned a few new things and are expected to learn it when we get back. Therefore all these snows days are taking our minds away from school.

I agree with Colleen. I think these snow days are impacting our learning negatively because students forget everthing. For example, usually teachers don't start something new before a break because students will forget. However, we keep learning something new and then get interrupted by multiple snow days that aren't planned. It is hard for children to remember all the new things if every other day of school is cancelled. When there are snow days, students are not learning and keeping their brains active. Therefore, the snow days negatively impacts students learning.

This is not an answer to the question but a response to the question. I enjoy snow days because they give more time to complete homework. On a normal night Elizabeth may have 3 hours of time to do her homework in and will have two and a half hours of homework. If Precipitation causes School to be canceled Elizabeth will have ten hours to complete two and a half hours of homework. Not only will Elizabeth have plenty of time to complete the homework but it will have been completed with more effort and quality. This pleases Elizabeth because she now has a higher ratio of entertainment and family time to homework time. As what happens to Elizabeth snow days also please me for the same reason’s and more.

I believe that snow days are effecting our learning because everytime we have one we will forget more and more information. For example, if we have school on Monday and then go back to school on Thursday then most people will forget most of or all of the information we learned on Monday. Therefor snow days are effecting our learning negatively.

These are all great responces! I like how Dave disagreed and explained it in a great way. After reading his responce I definitaly am more two sided about all of this.

I think that these snow days are affecting our learning in a negative way because we forget the stuff that we learned. For example, i agree with what Bella said. Teachers usually finish a topic before a break so then we can just start a new topic when we get back. But the snow days have been interrupting us in the middle of a topic. Therefore, making us forget the information on that topic.

I think that these snow days are affecting our leanring because we cannot get any flow going in the classes, as we keep having breaks. Its hard to remember the homework that we had on monday when its a Friday. We have to think hard back to the last time we were in school, and a lot of people forget what is due on somedays because they didn't bring home what they were supposed too. Therefore, its hard to generate flow when people cannot remember their homework. We will have to make up these days in June when its very hot and no one concentrates.

I am sure that snow days are affecting our learning because we forget everything we learned, and teachers have no time to re-teach the material. Like George mentioned, a lot of kids forget to do their homework, but not only that, they also forget what they learned. Spending three days off from school with no studying, means the mind will not be refreshed like it needs to be and everyone will forget everything. All the things that we forget will not be made up in school because we now have limited time, so we keep on learning new material when we barely know the basics leading up to it. That only gets us even more confused. Therefore, I do think snow days are having a negative impact on our learning because we forget everything we learned, and instead of going back to review it, we have to learn new things on top of that.

All these snow days are effecting our learning because we as students aren't remembering what we are learning. With all the snow days there isn't any continuity in our learning. We are not remembering everything. On Monday I got new spanish vocab words. I forgot to bring them home that night to study and we weren't back at school until Friday. I barely remembered any of the words when we got back. Therefore, the snow days are effecting our learning because it is hard for us to remember everything we learned over all the snow days.

I belive all the snow days are affecting our learning. To many snow days affects our learning by spacing the days of our learning so we forget what we have learned.

All these snow days are effecting our learning in a negative way because when we learn something one day we forget about it in during the long snow days. Last week in science we were learning about the periodic table and I nearly forget all the symbols we learned for each chemical. This meant that I had to study all those symbols over again which took awhile. I'm sure this happened to many other kids during this last snow day break where it lasted three days. Therefor these snow days are makeing our learning very difficult.

I agree with everyone saying that these snow days are impacting our learning in a negative way because because of the snow days we did not have mid terms this year. I know that a lot of people were happy about this but the reality is that the midterms are actually a big deciding factor of where you are placed in highschool. Therefore snowdays are impacting our learning negatively.

I think the snow is really affecting our learning because now people are making excuses about home work and postponing tests. Mrs. Sinkevich was talking about how they might start a online class which might be a good idea because we dont have to make up days.

Everyone is saying that the snow days are negatively effecting our learning. I think its not the best thing, but it is good. It is good for us to have a lot of time off because sometimes, kids our age just need a break. We need to have a couple days to get our minds off of everything. For most of the snowdays I know that all I have done is sit on the couch and do nothing. Also, I got to sleep in, so now I can actually stay awake the next time in school. Snow days are good for me. One could argue that we are forgetting what we are going to learn, but it is not like we are not going to get these days back. We all are going to serve 182 days. Therefore, snowdays don't hurt us. We all need some time off right?

I have to agree with everyone else and say that snow days are effecting our learning because we lose precious time at school to learn new things. This is shown because our school had to cancel midterms because we had so many snow days that it would have been hard for teachers to review. Also over time students might forget what they were learning before they had the snow day(s) and the teachers would have to go over the same things again and again. Therefore snow days absolutely effect our learning because well we can barely learn because we would have to keep reviewing.

I think snowdays are affecting our learning because we missed so much school. This year we have missed over 10 days of school and that is over 60 hours of learning we have missed and we are trying to get back on track. Therefore we missed many days of school and are still going over what should have been done by now.

I believe that these snow days are affecting our learning because of all the time sitting around snowed in, we start to lose some of our knowledge. It is relative to the summer, since we spend about 2 months away from school, we lose some of the knowledge we gained during the year and then we have to spend a week or two trying to regain that knowledge at the beginning of the school year. Therefore, since we have so many days off, and probably more to come, and that we lose our knowledge after extended amounts of time and that it takes a while to regain the knowledge, the snow days are affecting our learning

I think all of these snow days are negatively effecting our learning because we are forgetting everything we are learning. For example, in my math class, before the three day break last week, we started a new unit. By the time we came back to school we had all forgotten the information. Therefore with all the days off, we start to forget our information.

Like zSchulz said, I think all of the snow days we are having are definitely affecting our learning negatively because the days that we DO have school are very spread out. For example, we have been learning about the Civil War in Social Studies and because the days we have school are so seperated, the things we have learned are kind of hard to put together. Therefore, many of the school days we have had were sometimes nothing but review and refreshing our memories. If we go into school on Monday learn something totally new and then we have off tuesday and/or wednesday, almost nobody remembers what we learned on monday.

I do think these snow days are effecting our learning because we don't or can't remember would we had if we had a lot of snow days. For example i could not remember what we were learning about in math class. Therefore ith all of these snow days, we are losing information that we had learned.

All of these snow days we are having are impacting our learning negatively because we can't remember what we were learning a couple days before. I know this because we have one day of school and then two days off and this affects our learning because with the snow days after only one or two days of school causes us to lose what we were learning. Therefore, without having many reguluar school days in between the snow days, we can't remember what we were learning from days before.

All these snow days are effecting our learning negatively because we cannot obtain the materials we learn in class. It is a proven study that practice makes perfect and students are not able to practice our things we learn in class so it is harder for us to obtain the things we need to learn to the fullest. Therefore, when we cannot practice what we learn in class in a continuous pattern it is hard to obtain our materials to our best.

I think snow days are affecting our learning because we missed ten days of school. Because we have missed ten days of school, it causes us not to learn as much as we should know by now. Therefore, the snow days leave us behind because now we have so much catching up to do and CMT's are so close and we have so much work to do to get prepared for them.

I think that snow days effect our learning because there is no flow to the classes. For example, with all these snow days, we may only have 2 full days a week, and we miss classes and classes get shortened or even canceled. Therefore, we may forget stuff, and have a harder time learning the subject if we only get to go to class twice a week.

I agree with Coleen and I think all these snow days are effecting our learning because we haven't had any days of school or even full days of school and though were having extra days during the febuary break were still behind and sometimes thinking were still on our snow days and not working as hard as we were before. Most students are getting stressed out and not know what to do since were so behind in all classes. I seriously think we shouldn't have anymore snow days though most students would like snow days but wouldn't you rather just have a delay instead of no school so we can through the school year and not have to go into our summer. Therefore, I think we shouldn't have anymore snow days because it's harder to learn new things or even get ready for the cmts.

I think that the snow days have been negatively impacting our learning because we only go to school for one day and then have more off. I love snow days a lot but having 10 is just a little too much. I don't think that there is any way to actually learn anything because we go to school for one day and then have the next two off. So we don't really remember what we learned before the snow day. I know for a fact that i didn't remember anything. Therefore, since there is no way to actually remember what is going on in class after more than one day off, snow days are negatively impacting our learning. (truthfully i would rather forget it all and have a billion snow days though)

I belive that the snow is negatively impacting our education as well. The inconsitancy of school days during this quarter have affected the learning prcess of many of the students in our school. Don't get me wrong i love snow days and as many of us do there are times when i pray for them ,b ut 10 snow days to many. Therefore i rather have school and do well and get a break such as the febuary break that we lost than having so many snow days that effect our grades and not have a break that we can enjoy without worrying about school.

Snow is only fun for the first 2 or three snow days. With the amount of days that we have to make up I feel it is ridiculous, and unfair to not only students but the staff. If we could control the weather we wouldn't take it to the extent of having 10 snow days or however many we had, I find it completely unfair. Snow also affected the strength for CMT's because we didn't have as much time to prep and do other things if we needed help. I really wish we didn't have so many snow days this winter. It has definitely affected students of Jockey Hollow.
